Need something to watch...

So I was watching hulu the other day and i decided "I need a new anime to watch". Mostly because I have lost interest in watching any that are ongoing like bleach or Naruto, because if i don't already know whats going to happen ( I read way ahead in the manga), It's the worst possible thing that has ever been conceived in the history of mankind, that's right a filler episode. It would be preferable if this anime is currently an ongoing series but this does not break the deal.

So here's my criteria,
1.I need an action or more accurately Shonen anime.
2.Must be easily accessible (I don't want to have to watch 10 episodes to get interested)
3. It also must have an involved plot, I want it to start out simple, but i don't want it to stay that way.
4. Good animation (those animators need to work hard for their money)
5. No giant robots (I do not like mecha anime)

To give some ideas I enjoy most of the major ones, like "Death Note" and "Full-metal Alchemist" and i would say that these are prime examples of what I like. Another less well known anime I enjoyed was "Kikaider" for it's dark tone.

So... any suggestions?

I wouldn't say it's a shonen anime, but one I particularly enjoyed is [i]Black Lagoon[/i]. It has a lot of action, and fights and it has hardcore profanity in it though.

An alternative is [i]Elfen Lied[/i]. Tremendous amount of gore and violence and nudity in that.

Elfin Lied is certainly not shoujo. I'd say probably Seinen.

Got the complete series of black lagoon, loved it and frequently creeped out by it. vampire episode is disturbing. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm gunning for bebop next.

Glad you loved it; that reminds me, I need to finish watching that series. You will love Cowboy Bebop. Try Trigun as well. If you want to get creeped out try Paranoia Agent (I miss it).
