Site Maintenance

Yeah, alright not sure WHERE to put this but I figure it is about the site so why not put it here.

Anyways, I was on dA looking around. I left to go watch TV came back refreshed the dA page which was my profile and found it was in read only mode for system maintenance. So I was thinking why not have that here. Have a read only mode or something while doing maintenance.

Anyways it was just an idea

Also, sorry if there was already a topic about this.

Yes, sometimes the site has to go read-only for upgrades or other maintaince.

Last time we did it was around 4-5 months ago when I upgraded the database server.

I do try to avoid disrupting the site like that tho. It's been well enough designed that I don't need to do it often.

FAC actually does have the ability to switch email notifications, commenting, or submissions off for maintenance purposes. Denis is the only one with access to those switches.
