I've been digging up some of my old Disney related artwork and I'd like tips on coloring./ I would like to go for accuracy as much as possible.
I have two main issues with coloring which has left most of my artwork uncolored.
- It creates a lot of lag with my computer to load the artwork.
- Coloring has tended to ruin the piece and make it look too hobbyist.
I guess since I plan to submit so few pieces( Going to try and focus on quality instead of quanity) at this point I can live with the lag. Except what to use to avoid making my artwork look hobbyist?.
PS: I realized that there's another art section that this will be better in if someone wants to move this thread. Posted too quickly without exploring the forum further. |

I my self personally like to take a screencap of the desired char and keep it off to the side of my project and use the paint match tool in MS photodraw and draw the color direclty from the screencapture. You have to have a good quality screencapture for this for the best results but Good screencaptures are not as hard to find as many people think.
These screen caps where taken during the coloring process of this picture

This particular image was done using the original artwork of the char it was meant to represent as opposed to a screencapture but the process and theory are the same.
But that is just my way of doing things. _________________ RPG-n. A computer programing language designed for business reporting that generates specific programs from the users specifications.(Report Program Generator)The American Heritage Dictionary

Thanks for your detailed response. For now I've gone back to "old fashioned" methods.
Handful of colored pencils and coloring manually. HOWEVER I will keep this in mind when I attempt to color by computer again. |
