Why do we have to log in twice?

Once to view your profile. And again if you wish to use the forums.

This is the only site that I know of that operates this way.

We are unique that way lol.

But aside from being too busy, our coders probably don't care enough and/or have the know-how to fix that.

Unificaton of the log in sessions is trickier than it sounds with PHPbb. Session cookies get all screwy, atleast from my limited understanding of PHPbb.

Actually it isent as screwed up as TLKFAA log in session. In order to log in to your profile to upload art, and adoptables, post newsletters, check your contests etc, you gotta log into the artist area. But if you want to check out your fav authors list to see if they uploaded any new art, apply for adoptables, comment or fav a picture, or request an icon you have to log into your username which is pretty much the same, or you can have an alias name...which makes no sense. And you have to log in yet again if you want to go into the tlkfaa sketcher to draw alone or in collabs etc.

So yeah, FAC pwns TLKFAA there IMO. xP

I've always wondered that myself. But there's always a reason, weather it be code wise, or another reason completly unexpected.

I get too distracted with youtube nowadays to ask though, so you beat me to the punch, plus I also am lazy.

phpBB and the mainsite have entirely separate login mechanisms, thus the need for separate logins.

I've actually done some analysis of how phpBB2.0 handles its login cookies -- with only limited success at being able to reproduce a valid forum login.

And we'll be upgrading to phpBB3, too, which uses an entirely new login mechanism itself.

It's technically possible, but definitely not anywhere on the priority list.
