Q: FAC says I need to validate my e-mail before submitting art. But I never received a validation e-mail to begin with. What do I do?

There are three possible explanations why:

1- Internet delay. Wait about 5-10 minutes, then check your e-mail again. However, if it has not arrived by then, then you may be experiencing one of the below problems instead.

2- Spam. Depending on your spam filters and options, it is possible that your validation e-mail was classified as spam and treated as such. To see if this is the case, review your spam folder and filtering options, then request a new validation e-mail.

3 - Could not deliver e-mail. Make sure that you spell your e-mail address properly (including correct upper/lowercase).

In any case, this has been a recurring issue with some users, so to request a new validation e-mail, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the FAC main site.
  2. Review your user profile information (such as your e-mail address).
  3. Use this link: http://www.fanart-central.net/revalidate.php -- this will send you a new validation.
  4. Check your e-mail.

The validation link didn't work! What do I do?

  • Web-based mail handlers (such as Hotmail or Yahoo!) will often use their own formatting for links in e-mails. If this causes a problem, copy the URL as text and paste it into your browser's Location bar.
  • For security reasons, Only one e-mail validation will work at a time. If you have requested several validation e-mails, you need to follow the link on the newest one received, the older ones will no longer work.

Additional note:

If an email sent to you (such as any of the notification emails you can enable in your profile) bounces your email address will be invalidated. Make sure you keep your email address active and not over its quota.

I have one update to give on this subject: Email validation is in fact required before you can access the forums.

So, if you are unable to log in to the forums, don't panic! The first thing you should do is review your email validation from the mainsite.
