I haven't seen a topic like this, but the idea intrigues me. And here is the question I would like to ask.

What do you think of Dreams or Nightmares?

Cause I have heard, and believe, that you dream your most wanted desire or worst fears. Which seem to be true, but I also believe that dreams or nightmares have hidden messages in them. Which I have experienced before as well.

Anyone care to put there input about dreams and nightmares?

hmm, well.

There are alot of myths about dreams. Like dying in a dream results in actual death. But ive never witnessed anything that would prove any of them true.

Also...dreams are formed out of a mixture of all your thoughts, things you know, things you think you know, things you've seen, and things you've herd. etc etc....

How and why, I cant begin to answer without doing some research, but I doubt run-of-the mill dreams have any kind of meaning to them. I could be wrong though.

seeing as well, nobody has really figured them out yet.

Well, that dying thing. I totally remember get sawed to pieces in one dream and that was ages ago. And I am clearly alive lol
But like you said it is or was a myth and probably never proven true.

Dreams being mixtures of what you see, hear, know or think you know is true. I have experienced it quite a bit in my dreams.

Dreams maybe having hidden dreams or something, I mean sometimes its like it tells me maybe if I notice whats going to happen.
Example being one night I had a dream that I did something I totally regretted and no one could help me. When I woke up, 2 hours later after I woke up, I did something I totally regretted (like broke my computer screen cause my computer was pissing me off) and no one could help me. True story.

Thats why I believe dreams can hold hidden messages etc.

I agree with what the others said about dreams being formed from thoughts. I've often had dreams about something that I feared at the time, and dreams about the things I like.

I don't think there are any messages though. I'd like to dismiss it as pure coincidence, or that you take a message so seriously that you become paranoid and inadvertently end up fulfilling it.

I did have a dream about being hit by a car though, and about a week later, a boy I knew was hit by one. I still think it's a coincidence. Oh, and the boy's fine.

I understand there is coincidences but I am far from being a paranoid person. I am so relaxed I am so damn lazy. All my life I have had weird dreams. Sometimes my dreams are similar but I have never had the same dream twice. Even if I do dream something that seems the same, it never is.

And the settings of my dreams is always interesting. I always dream about my old elementary or high school. In the old neighborhood I kinda grew up as a kid. OR for some reason just in the most random made up setting of a place I never been in an I know DOESN'T exist.

Also the coincidence thing. It just seems to weird to be a coincidence I mean how or why would you dream about it in the first place. Who knows maybe god was giving me a message cause my computer is like my whole life...ok not really but I do alot on it cause theres nothing to effing do where I live. And god obviously knows that and was hinting a hidden message like a warning. But because I didn't think or did believe like you white_dragon that maybe it was a coincidence...that I didn't read into it and boom I got pissed and ended up breaking my computer screen.

So, I don't know. I'm only paranoid when it comes to pain and I was never hurt in this dream or when I broke my screen. I just bought another one.

NatGeo from last month or the month before said dreams might be your brain trying to record stuff that happened to you that day, but nobody really knows yet.

Nightmares could be your inner most fears playing out. For example my mom has alot of dreams where she's in a different house. That fear being moving back to our hell hole of an old house and leaving this beautiful one with the huge driveway and lovely backyard with an old fashioned fence.

Also sometimes if you have the tv on when you are sleeping, whatevers on tv plays out in your dreams. Same deal with what you watch before you go to sleep. I had a dream last night about cannibels, this being due to watching Metacolypse before I went to bed with when the band goes to the Amazon to meet that tribe and the tribe eats that sargent guy spying on Dethklok.

I also had a few dreams about meeting my bf. Hinting to me that im missing him. And how many days later he ends up calling me out of the blue. Kinda like he knows. xP
And I had a dream a few days ago about my fluffy grey cat I lost years ago due to him dying of old age. I hate dreams soo realistic like that. Cause when I woke up I was upset, thinking he was actually alive, or it was one of his kittens all grown up.

Also, ive heard eating certain foods can cause strange dreams. Perhaps indigestion causes a malfunction in the dream forming process?

I have heard that. Someone mentioned a specific food that I can not remember at the moment, that can cause weird dreams.

Usually when I dream I can't remember them at all for some reason. And when I can remember them, they are very fuzzy and vague. Usually they are really...weird.

True but I don't know what it is for me, like I said I can't remember my dreams at all. My boyfriend on the other hand, he told me he has really weird trippy dreams if he eats French toast and goes to bed shortly after that.
