|

I've used this site on and off since 2004 (yes that's right 6 years) and only now it's occurred to me that you allow 'racist content' on the site.
I don't particularly understand what this is supposed to actually mean.
I understand the implications of what art is and freedom of expression, that people may choose to take a stand in their beliefs and do a piece of artwork on a certain racial or ethnic subject perhaps expose it to the fandom world that 'hey, look at this, this isn't right' and while submitting that particular piece people would put under this filter.
I think that anything with a positive message does not need a filter. So logically I see this particular filter and I think it encourages people to BE racist or politically incorrect.
I'm 19 now and I even I'm not entirely sure what this filter is supposed to do, how do you expect teenboppers to?
I'm also intrigued by your wordfilter system because you can't seem to type weeaboo but you can 'nigĀger' (this is on the mainsite).... |

The racist-content label is not well defined, and unfortunately never has been. It is intended to be for artistic works that may be interpreted as racist content, distinct from actual racist/discriminatory behavior by a user which can be considered harassment and therefore a violation.
For example, if somebody made an art depicting Nazi Germany in WW2, that could be considered racist content regardless of whether it was meant to be positive or negative.
Also, another unfortunate thing is that the mainsite and forum wordcensors are stored separately from each other, which means they may occasionally differ. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Ah, right thanks for your reply.
I suppose that because FAC is quite a quiet site certain things aren't attended to, a little sad I guess.
I think maybe the wordfilter thing is possibly a totally different matter altogether.

It would be nice to standardize the wordfilters sometime, but . . . that's work of which there is already much to do. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
