Discuss. Love it, hate it?
I myself have sadly been unable to get my hands on any of the games however I am wanting to get this one, looks pretty badass when I saw the commercial for it. This one and Assassins Creed Brotherhood are top tens in my book. _________________ Our life is made by the death of others...

Assassins Creed is going to be a bunch of shit. Because they're gonna rape it in the ear with multi player, which takes away story and longer play time.
Metroid Other M, I'm gonna buy it. I already ordered it. But I'll play it, after I go through story at my own speed, I'll then play again for a speed run.
But it's not "Metroid Prime": Other M. It's Metroid: Other M.
Also, Super Metroid > Metroid Fusion > Metroid II: The Return of Samus > Metroid Zero Mission > Metroid > All the Prime games.(even though they all kick ass <3) |

K, picked it up in the morning, store says I can get new games from them a day early(Cant wait till the 3DS then) since I'm their fave customer, beat it.
It has to be the best fucking game I have played in years. All those FPS games can suck this game's dick. This game kept you on your toes and was a kick ass game to finish. _________________ |

It's on my friends' list of "To get". One, because it is Metroid Prime, and two, because it has "Lara Croft-esque" battle style. At least, according to him. _________________ |

I'm about 3 hours into it, just reached the lava world.
So far, I've picked up two (and a half) Energy Tanks and the Diffusion Beam (charged shot scatters on impact). And Missiles come in packs of one instead of five, this time.
It's real nice to see many classic enemy types represented faithfully to their old-school roots (such as the Shriekbats).
I also got eaten. Oops. First time EVER that I've seen a one-hit-kill in any Metroid title. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but the game teaches you a dodge maneuver while you're still in the tutorial area, and there's one area where if you don't quickly dodge out of the way it's Game Over.
Also ran into what will no doubt be a boss at some point. It's large, purple, has a stinger tail and it definitely prefers Samus over Galactic Federation troopers. But it doesn't appear to have any fire breath or a pair of wings. It got away after one of the GF troopers blasted it with his plasma rifle.
Did run across a few Space Pirates in the meantime. No Metroids yet....
And there are a lot of creepy moments here and there. Unlike the Prime series, you can't scan every little thing here and there for text information, but you can at least scan breakables to see what works on them, and there are a few segments where it locks you into visor mode and you need to scan around to locate something particular.
Combat, aside from the new dodge maneuver Samus does get a few new finishing moves so it feels quite different from your normal Metroid tradition. Yeah, I kinda dubbed this "Metroid Gaiden" when I first heard about it, and the comparison holds up.
I also like how it gives you a quick recap when you load your saved game. Nice for games to do that once in a while. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Hey, his quote, not mine. But he's really into Lara Croft...'course he doesn't have a computer to play games on, only his Wii and PS2. _________________ |

I made it past the (wait for it) Ridley battle last night. Damn, not only did Samus take a level in badass, but Ridley did too. One of the toughest Metroid bosses ever. He fights mostly with his claws (and unlike in Prime, he's pretty fast on the attack) but each hit packs some serious hurt. He also has one attack where if he grabs onto Samus he rakes her across the arena wall, like the cutscene in SSB:B, but unlike Smash Bros. this actually damages you before you can blast yourself free.
And if you stun him you can deliver a mouthful of charged plasma at point-blank. Samus seems to have a cinematic special attack / finishing move for every enemy, bosses included. Even though most of them boil down to a charged Boom Headshot at point blank, they're still pretty cool.
Also got the Space Jump -- it's nice to be able to air-jump indefinitely for distance (if not height) again.
And the lava world... that was some time ago by now but it was definitely intense. You're actually required to do about three runs through the lava fields with the high temperatures chipping away at your HP... but at least save points were frequent in there.
And there's one spot where you have to release several grapple points, only this gigantic lava fish swallows one. Then you have to fight it, grapple point and all. Samus definitely lands one mean fish. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
