What are your thoughts?
Are you a person who loves to take out their drawing tablet, load up GIMP/openCanvas/Photoshop/oekaki/etc. and start drawing on a virtual canvas?
Or, are you a person more comfortable with colored pencils, crayons, pencils/graphite, clay, etc?
Which one do you prefer to use, and why? Which media do you really do not care for? Any thoughts? _________________ |

I like using photoshop, because I think I end up with a better result, but it takes a lot of strain on my eyes. As for colored pencils, I like to be able to use a lot of colors, but still have the challenge of limited colors as well.
I guess in the end, I'd have to vote computer art/photoshop. :/ |

I prefer using colour pencils on paper because I can see it and keep it as a hard copy compared to using photoshop (unless I print the artwork...). However pencil's don't scan very well and may look strange once on the computer. After I just edit them on Photoshop to look nicer on the computer. So in the end I'm using traditional and digital methods.
Linearting/Inking annoys me as I don't think I get a good finish in the end. Well everything needs practising.
Photoshop is easier as I can see what it will look like on the computer straight away. Accompanied with a tablet, it feels like sketching but there is not a worry about rubber shavings cluttering your table which is pretty convenient.
I never got the opportunity to do ceramics or clay stuff in school. : ( I guess I could just go get clay and makes stuff myself in my own time.
I never really cared for sculpture but when I went on art camp we made lots of sculptures in the natural environment using anything we found in that environment. It was fun, but I wouldn't do it ever again (I'm too lazy). o.o
In the end I like pencils on paper and photoshop as they're the easiest to use and practice without burdening myself with extra art supplies. _________________ |

I do both at the same time, haha. I draw things in my sketchbooks and all, but I scan them onto my computer before coloring them. I'll use Photoshop to color my scans, but if I want to color the actual drawing, I'll do it traditionally. |

Well.... If I am able to I perfer using digital art then traditional. All though I love looking at traditional, and drawing my own. But i guess I like digital art more, at least making digital art. My reason, firstly, the undo button or shortcut. admit it, it rocks. 2. I have not the best, hand control. 3. I can get it done quicker, tools aviable, I don't need to look around for a pencil, paper, and eraser. Then paints, markers or what ever. _________________ "To embrace a serpant is to invite poisen into your heart." Soul Reaver 2, Elder god |

Traditional.
I don't know how to use that high tech stuff. _________________

I use both regularly.
I usually draw stuff traditionally then colour it in on the computer. Much easier! |

I prefer to use traditional mostly because I have the best control and plus i can do it anywhere because I don't need a computer.
But sometimes I liek to do digital works or edit my manual drawn stuff on the computer.
I like using graphite pencil, charcoal, ink, and paint mostly.
I can say traditional is definetly more popular though because most major artworks you see now a days are done with traditional media and not usually with digital works.
BUt who really cares. Art is art no matter how it's done. _________________ ___________________________________________________

I sketch and scan, then edit from there. So I use both. _________________ |

I do, and love, both. Digital is so much easier and although there is a lot to learn with photoshop, gimp, etc. it's really fun to learn new techniques and tricks. Layers, the undo button, pre-made brushes... digital is just easier to use. I wouldn't be able to do a traditional drawing as well as I can do a digital drawing.
I do more digital than traditional these days, but traditional is my fave. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

I actually use both. XD
I can't say I prefer one over the other because I do traditional pencil on paper whenever I draw anything, but I always hated the sort of grainy look of colored pencils/crayons and the liney coloring of markers, so I never really ended up coloring anything and just simply being satisfied with my line-arts.
But recently I've been coloring and I really like the smoothness of digital work, however coloring in photoshop had to be the most time-consuming thing I've ever done. Not to mention it's uber frustrating.
I guess you can say both have their pros and cons and using the two of them in conjunction is pretty useful. _________________

I really enjoy the tools of PS and other CG programs, but I feel guilty/worried that I am losing my traditional tools of trade. I tend to continue preferring traditional over digital. _________________ “Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” ~Theodore Roosevelt |

How do you do it! I could never get used to coloring with colored pencils or markers. I just never got a good feel for them. |

Practice. I LOVE your pencil work. The shading is so soft, but you able to keep the blunt anime/manga quality in there. Thus, I do not think you NEED to work with colored pencils/markers, but if you really want to get into it...
My first /fastest advice in getting better in traditional is getting out some blank copy paper and one black pen. No pencils and erasers allowed. Just draw with that pen, and even if you make a mistake, keep going and make the best picture you can. Your brain will eventually adjust to this permanent feel and you will be able to even incorporate mistakes in. Makers/colored pencils (the good ones) are usually quite permanent, so setting up the most basic lineart with a permanent feel is the best way I have improved in traditional.
However, it also seems like you are getting interested in digital art! You are spreading your horizons! I love that! _________________ “Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” ~Theodore Roosevelt |

When I did traditional stuff, I could only do pen, ink, and sometimes colored pencils...I could never quite master painting...When I finished, it would always look like a first-grader's watercolor! |

Watercolors have this strange atmosphere of looking good even if you are an amateur at it! _________________ “Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” ~Theodore Roosevelt |

Oh? If you had ever seen any of my attempts at brush painting on canvas or artboard, you'd say, "Get yourself into another occupation!"
They were just....BLAH! |
