If you've been following the Mons news, last month there was an announcement of Pokemon Black and White 2, alongside reveals that the reclusive Kyurem gets two completely new alternate forms.

The obvious question: Are these honest-to-Arceus sequels, or just enhanced versions of the existing Black/White games? After all, the last pair of Pokemon games has been out for a year now, which is approximately the same timing as previous generations' enhanced versions.

The answer: They're actually real sequels.

Recently (and somewhat unsurprisingly) somebody leaked a photo from the upcoming May issue of japanese CoroCoro magazine which advertises the sequels. Even more recently, the Japanese official site was also updated with more information (assuming you can read Japanese) and the games' official (Japanese) trailers.

So if it's a real sequel, what does this mean? Among them:

It's set two years after Black and White themselves, and Unova's entire eastern seaboard has become frozen underneath a creeping glacier (insert The Day After Tomorrow joke here).

New towns and Gyms on the western side of Unova. (Because at least three of the old Gyms, and the Pokemon League plateau itself, are also trapped in said glacier.)

Completely new regional Unova Pokedex lists 300 Mons, including previous-gen favorites like Eevee and Riolu.[/list:u]

The games are scheduled to see their Japanese release this summer, with international releases scheduled sometime before Ye Olde Mayan Apocalypse Day.

Anyone else interested in seeing how things go with the next outing of Mons?
