I dont like ruffling feathers in the art world, but when I saw this piece on DA I kinda got alittle miffed. The person says they borrowed the backround...but I think they borrowed much more than that. It looks to me as if they drew over the picture with photoshop or something else. I can tell clearly since the wings and the boot tip etc are jutting out and are much different in shade and coloring than the Roxas character itself. Plus these originally belong to the demon in the picture. Observe:

(^ The original piece)

Now the Roxas picture:

Come on ppls, I can let Screenshot manipulations slide...but this is too much when they say they simply borrowed the backround scene.

Again I apologize since this isnt FAC related...but if we let this pic sneak under the rader on DA, who's to say youngsters wont start doing this on here? Crying or Very sad

It is most definitely a traceover, end of story. Linework shows telltale pixelation and every other detail (wings, tail, chain, etc.) is an exact match to the original version.

Yup yup. I mean I've seen this person manipulate screenshots from KH2 of HT sora etc, but they cant exactly get away with saying they didnt borrow anything. But this...nah sorreh I know it was a good effort to try and sneak this under the radar, but to Demon picture buffs like me, this picture is far too well known and popular to not get noticed when it's drawn over.

I honestly think someone should report this over in Da...I would myself but kinda cant since I didnt join up. X_x

photo manipulations are one thing...but this is toooo much abuse of the privilage.

dA heirarchy doesn't do much these days about rips/copy cats...You can see an image done over 30 different times in as many different posts...Sometimes, I see direct posts of samples from royalty-free image sites with the "sample" markings still on them...

It's one thing to look at a picture and imitate it through your own blood, sweat, and tears; it's quite another to directly edit the original image, without permission, and try to pass off the result as completely original.

Oh yeah I agree with that. That's just the steriods way of getting popular on DA. >[

And people wonder why I hold back on going over there...sorry but I dont want to be outshined by those who 'cheat' in the art world and expect people to think they are typical Leonardo Davinci's.

dA's just gotten far too big, and in it both for the sponsorship and their dA store junk these days...Was a different place prior to '05 before "Yellow Alien Jark" (Scott Jarkoff - One of the founders) got canned...
