Eheh, so it's that wonderful FaC time again everyone. :3 Time for another official website contest hosted by yours truly, 'Falcon. I'll be doing this contest mostly myself, but I'm still a bit of an apprentice here, so don't be surprised of luckylace222 makes some changes here and there, haha.

Autumn is such a wonderful season. It represents the shift between the sunny summer weather into the colder climates of Fall and Winter where nature itself seems to take its own break. Trees lose their leaves and animals migrate or go into hibernation.

Everyone celebrates the Autumn Equinox differently around the world, be it a festival or respecting the spirits of the dead.

Contest Staff will be taking ideas for the Autumn Equinox Contest. We will accept your input (the usual 10 slots) up to August 26, 2012 (that's this Sunday) when the thread closes.

Ideas:
1. Draw yourself or your OCs attending the Moon Festival
2. Draw a respectful picture to someone/something that has died
3. Draw a picture representing the coming of Autumn using only orange, red, yellow, (other warm colors), black, and white
4. Draw your personification of what Mother Nature looks like in Autumn
5. If you wanted other people to know how much you appreciate Autumn with a greeting card, what would the card say and look like?
6. Draw your OCs/friends/family enjoying your "perfect" Autumn feast (with seasonally symbolic fruits and vegetables)
7. Since Autumn is the balance between life (Summer) and death (Winter), draw an seasonal picture representing Life and Death
8. Draw a picture with the main theme being: Apples (known to symbolize wisdom and magic during the Autumn Equinox)
9. When you were a kid, how did you enjoy your Autumn?
10. How do you or your OCs react with the changing of the seasons?

It is a cool contest topic because there are multiple holiday entertainment/celebrations under it. For example, China celebrates the Moon Festival for it with fried fruit, sesame seeds, and other Summer harvest foods. For Japan, it is about visiting and paying respects to the dead.

Thus, lets have some topics like:

1. Draw yourself or your OCs attending the Moon Festival

2. Draw a respectful picture to someone/something that has died

3. Draw a picture representing the coming of Autumn using only orange, red, yellow (other warm colors), black, and white.

I like the 2nd option, considering my lil bud Zuzu the reverse colored panda hamster passed away a few days ago. Not to mention I have been planning to draw a pic of him.

Everyone, make sure to think of some cool Autumn Equinox ideas too! We can use all the help we can get. My imagination can only go so far on ill-tolerant/crazy nights!

We will have time to do a Halloween contest as well. We should definitively skew from the last Halloween contest topic though.

I just thought of a new idea. Hows about:

Draw your personification of what Mother Nature looks like in Autumn

Here's my lame contribution! Very Happy

How about making/drawing your own autumn equinox greeting card?

I like numbers 3 and 4
What about "how we celebrate or enjoy the equinox"?

That is "LUCY" to you! -And do not worry. I do not chase people irrationally for incredibly generic ideas- which yours was.

Lets blend MadamePenguin and your ideas into: "If you wanted other people to know how much you appreciate Autumn with a greeting card, what would the card say and look like?"
6. Draw yourself or your OCs celebrating the coming of Autumn.
7. Draw where you would go (assuming you had the ability) during the Autumn season.
8. How would your OCs react to the changing of seasons?
-is a little too boring and broad. We want topics that vary from each other enough so that each theme is not just another way to draw the same picture.

I used this reference for some ideas: http://www.schooloftheseasons.com/celauteq.html

Lets have: Draw your OCs/friends/family enjoying your "perfect" Autumn feast (with seasonally symbolic fruits and vegetables)

Since Autumn is the balance between life (Summer) and death (Winter), draw an seasonal picture representing Life and Death.

School has started, but if you could skip the first day to celebrate Autumn, what would you do?

Draw a picture with the main theme being: Apples (known to symbolize wisdom and magic during the Autumn Equinox)

The Contest Poll has been created!

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NVWXQ6P

Thanks for your implied ideas! The poll will close on September 2, 2012, so vote quickly!

EDIT:

The "Draw your personification of what Mother Nature looks like in Autumn" topic won! DANG, you guys are really specific with these winning themes. When they win, they WIN. (14 votes to 6 votes)

The Autumn Contest Picture on the mainsite will be created soon! Thanks for the patience, and for those of you interested in joining the contest, get your pencils and tablets ready!
