CONTEST: New Year Kiss

Deadline: January 6, 2013 (CLOSED)

Theme: Is there anything better than kissing someone special on January 1, 2012 from 12:00 AM to 12:01 AM for the new year? 2013 is a clean slate for all of us, especially with academics, friends, family, and careers. A small kiss with someone you trust is a good jumping stone to fulfill youpollr deeper resolutions! Draw yourself, your OC, or something that represents you kissing someone/something for the New Year!

Rules:
1. Only 1 submission per user
2. When January 6, 2012 12:00 AM passes, submissions are closed for the contest. We do not take late work, no matter how good you are. Smile
3. No explicit sexuality/violence

Scoring Guidelines:
 Skill: 40 points
Example: [CLICK HERE]

- You can use crafts, digital mediums, traditional mediums(etc.) to express this theme, but you need skill to make it look good! Whatever style you work with, whether anime or realism, make it synchronize with your idea, and your skill will inevitably show.

 Creativity: 25 points
Example: [CLICK HERE]
- Not every New Year kiss works exactly like you planned. Heck, many New Year kisses are surprises from friends or a secret admirer. Would you not want an exciting and not-as-plain kiss? That feeling will hold true for next year too!

 New Year Element: 20 points
Example: [CLICK HERE]
- If you draw a kiss between two people, sure, it is a nice kiss. However, a New Year kiss is mixed with a celebrative air with friends/family watching or fireworks and bright colors coming from the back. Show some form of New Year element in your kiss, and you will get these points.

 Colors: 15 points
Example: [CLICK HERE]
- Fortunately, New Year is not subjected to specific colors. It can be mixed with the passing Christmas (red & green), red and white festive colors, or even the color of your wine. Whatever colors you choose, it still stands that New Year is a festive and COLORFUL time.

Prize:
1rst Place:
-Putting your winning picture on the site news/main-page (this will be an alternative to those who still do not completely qualify for featured pictures or are too new to be popular)
- Specialized 2012 New Year Contest Winner badge that you can put on your profile

- There will be 2 judges (luckylace222 & ShadowFalcon) for the contest, and your final score will be the average of our two scores
- I will accept near- isses (the lips do not have to touch, but at least have a kissing atmosphere)
- You can have as many characters in the picture as you want, just as long as there is a New Year kiss

Winner:
1st Place: http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures/user/SofeSmity/828786/New-Year-contest-Piece
Name: SofeSmity
Skill (40): 31.5

New Year Element (20): 12.5
Colors (15): 11.5
Total (100): 75
A beautiful and soft watercolor piece with not just the custum of fireworks interesting looking ones at that), but also the custum of the lucky rabbit's foot! It is true; if you want good luck for the new year, start off with a lucky charm to keep you going! The angelic and warm feeling of the art piece juxaposes from the generic crazy/wild New Year tradition. It gives a sense of purity and a "clean slate!"
________________________________________________________________

NOTICE:

New Year is getting closer and closer, but I know you will make your New Years resolution at the special time! For now, let's fulfill that subconscious resolution we all have: draw more!

We have until December 7, 2012 to give me interesting New Year contest theme ideas for the Official 2012 New Year Contest! I will only take 10 idea slots.

(Since New Year is coming, just for fun, think about joining this contest if you have not joined any of the previous contests. It could be a good change!)

Ideas:
1. My New Year resolution is going to be a little... different
2. After getting drunk at a New Year party with your friends/family/OCs/etc, you do what you have wanted to do all year!
3. Thank god, the year is almost over! What was the best/worst thing about 2012?
4. What is your own version of the New Year Ball Drop?
5. What is that most-anticipated event for the next year?
6. How did you survive the 12-21-2 apocalypse?
7. This is going to be the loneliest New years ever... *knock knock* Who is it?
8. New Years Kiss!
9. How do you see your future down the road after this year is done?
10. You get a chance to go back in time to a specific year. What would you change?

Feel free to shoot down any ideas that you deem repetitive/not qualified!

Note:
- A November contest was not done because bugs/glitches with the new site version had to be worked out first. There is no way I could let go of a New Years contest, though!
- I am going to blend contest notices with the actual contest post from now on (just to keep everything condensed and on the same post)
__________________________________________________________________

Poll Results:

The "New Year Kiss" idea won by 1 vote after the "How did you survive the 12-21-12 Apocalypse?" (dang it, I just realized it reads "21" instead of "12")

What is your most-anticipated event which you expect to occur in the coming year? Can be anything from a conference or convention, to a long-awaited movie release, to seeing a friend from out of town, to a wedding or a new birth in the family.

Quote:

I put that down as "Depict a New Year party with your friends/family/OCs/etc."

EDIT: Since there were two similar New Years ideas, I blended them together into "After getting drunk at a New Years party with your friends/family/OCs/etc., you do what you have wanted to do all year!"

I put that down as "Some people already have plans for the next year. What is that most-anticipated event for the next year that you cannot wait for?"

Tell me if the wording is off. Keep thinking of ideas, guys! We can replace/merge some if better ideas come out!

Since that can blend in actions/antics while being at a New Years party, I put it down as " What is your own version of the New Year Ball Drop and how would you celebrate it?"

vjifduhvfuydhbvfdijviud
this is going to be the worst idea ever but

"you are spending new years alone, when you hear a knock at you're door, opening the door you are surprised to see you favorite character(s) standing there, wanting to spend new years with you...
How do YOU react to this?"

How about celebrating New Years two times because you crossed the IDL?

LOL I love it! I put it down as " How did you survive the 12-21-2 apocalypse?" because we would have survived it by then...

Quote:
"you are spending new years alone, when you hear a knock at you're door, opening the door you are surprised to see you favorite character(s) standing there, wanting to spend new years with you...
How do YOU react to this?"

It is not that lame at all. I put it down as "This is going to be the loneliest New years ever... *knock knock* Who is it?"

Quote:

I put that down as "New Years Kiss!" to make it simple. The kiss theme usually sounds better when it is up to your imagination and looks attractively simple.

What does IDL stand for? International Deaf Leather. Is it that programming system that was supposed to stop at a certain number system?

Keep up the creative ideas guys! We only need two more slots now!

IDL, in this case is the International Date Line that is situated basically right down the middle of the Pacific Ocean, separating Asia and the Americas into basically two different dates.
I.E. If the Asian and Australian continent is at Dec 4, then the Americas would most likely be at Dec 3.

Hmm, that is interesting, but I am not sure how many FACers will be able to get the topic, since even I had to ask about it.

Maybe another topic that could blend celebrating New Year more than usual?

Quote:

I attempted to think of some variations to that theme, but it did not work. It could intertwine with the Christmas party theme. ;(

I also added in "You get a chance to go back in time to a specific year. What would you change?" just in case people want to look at the past instead of the future!

It looks like we have all of our slots now. The poll should be up soon to see which theme is the most popular, and then we will start the contest! PREPARE YOUR BRAINS!

I am creating the contest picture soon, and since you already know the winning theme, you can go ahead and prepare your ideas/sketches!

The official contest will be announced with an official deadline soon!
