|
|
I bought an ASUS 3D monitor, and use it to play XBOX360 games in 3D via HDMI. The monitor has 2 built-in 3W speakers and plays the games audio through them.
Next, I need a true 7.1 surround sound headset because I play multiplayer FPS and 3PS games and need the environmental/directional audio advantage that SS gives you in these games. True Surround Sound, not virtual SS because I hear virtual SS doesn't compare to true SS.
My question is can I use a PC headset (with one 3.5mm audio cord) plugged into the monitor to get the SS through a SS headset? Or do I need some kind of adapter/device to pull the SS from my XBOX through to my headset (like those made for the 360)? I imagine I can just plug the headset into the audio jack on the monitor to get all the games audio, but I just want to be sure before spending $60-$120 (my budget).
Basically I just want a PC headset, with a mic, that I can plug into my monitor and get all my XBOX's audio worth through it. Are there any 7.1 SS PC headsets that use just one audio cord to plug into your PC? _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

Not being an Xbox player I don't have much information on that, all my experience is through PS3 but never the less, I would recommend looking into Turtle Beach Systems headsets. I know they make sets for all gaming platforms, but I am not sure about portability between PC and Xbox. _________________ RPG-n. Turtle Beach is OK. But the virtual surround sound isn't so great. They are expensive, too, for being the cheaper kind of TB. I don't know if they make a true SS headset in my price range. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

The people I race with on GT-6 have nothing but praise for the Turtle Beach Systems. I my self can't afford them so I have no experience to draw from, I use simple bluetooth headsets my self. _________________ RPG-n. I decided to get these
http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/gears-of-war-3-dolby-71-surround-sound-headset-for-xbox-360/92674
I found some for $100 on eBay. They are said to be worth the $180 they were when they were released. And they are better than Turtle Beaches, even though they are virtual surround sound. I chose to go with virtual SS, mainly because they are cheaper, and partly because these are branded Gears 3 headsets and that is what I play (top 30 in execution on Gears 3 )
I know lots of gamers love Turtle Beaches, but my experience with them is different. They had directional sound, but not spatial. Meaning I could hear enemies creeping up behind me, but I couldn't tell how close or far they were. I kept getting my footsteps mixed up with the enemies so every time I moved around, I got paranoid. It's funny but I hated it. Also, I could hear people running around on the other side of the map, and it sounded like they were right next to me.
Every sound was loud and clear, so I'm guessing people translate that to "great headset." But all I want is some bass for gunshots and explosions, directional sound to I know which direction someone is, and spatial sound to know how close or how far they are. I'm sure the higher end TB's do that, but not my pair of $60 x11's.
The reviews for this Gears 3 headset are pretty great. They are made by Tritton, which some consider better than Turtle Beach. Funny thing, tho, my experience with Tritton is worse than the TB's, lmao. My pair of Trittons broke down pretty fast. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |
