This is more out of curiosity but I have noticed some medias are automatic such as "water colours", and other traditional tools.

Then I tried to add some digital painting and it would have to pend. On the old layout it didn't ever pend for me.

Then when I added some of my folios documentation (done in a collage like format) in scraps it has the pending thing again.

Now this doesn't bother me but I was curious as to what the change was as I have not had anything pend for a while.

I asked about some guidelines for pictures that needed to be seen whether you had auto-approve or not, but the list was not exhaustive.

All I know is that there are categories that are "monitored" whether you have history of instant approval or not (it does not matter whether it was old or new layout).

I never noticed that Digital Paitng was monitored. I submit under that all the time in different categories, and I still get instantly approved.

I am not sure about the scraps system. Personally, I do not care much to monitor scraps pictures, but I can understand that monitoring them is for abuse purposes...maybe. I need some backdrop information on this.

IIRC the Media you supply along with a submission has absolutely zero effect on whether it is screened by the queue or not - generally only the category you submit to makes a difference.

Due to a configuration error, up until some time yesterday morning the auto approval requirements were much more strict than they were on the old site. If you submitted during that time, that was probably the problem.

I did and that makes sense. Thank you all for explaining it to me.

On of the known handicaps about an onsite messaging system (aka a "comes with the territory") is the sheer number of notifications that an active site will generate. Thea actual database table for it has to be kept as lean as possible with only the absolutely essential data needed for each notice.

I've been thinking that perhaps the best way to implement it is that notifications are generated in real time for 'active' user logins only; since these notifications effectively don't exist outside a user login, many of them can actually be generated upon login and (if done properly) there will be no visible difference to the end user.

I'm also thinking there should be a statutory limit on how long a notification can remain in the system, e.g. 30 days. One of the user's responsibilities is to review and dismiss their notifications regularly so they don't pile up.

Why would you randomly copy/paste the post from one of the site admin into another completely unrelated thread?
