Do not fret dear newcomer, all who sign up to FAC usually get their art put in pending first so as to make sure they arent ripping off other people's art etc. Just standered procedure, no worries your art will be up and ready in no time.
But the reasons it could be pending longer than normal is 1: Size 2: Lucky or shadowfalcon havent seen it yet.
Trust me, contact either one of them and you should have your art up and ready for viewing eyes before you know it. nn _________________ Our life is made by the death of others...

Queue got backed up to about a week, actually. Our bad for not checking it more often last week.
Not every submission gets screened by staff -- basically just ones from new users and ones that trip certain automated checks. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

*checks AP queue* (22 pics pending, oldest May 8th)
Sorry. Some days I feel like the only AP staff we have left; usually I at least check it every 1-2 days but this week was apparently not one of those times.
One tip that might help is this; The most common reason something gets queued for approval is due to image size -- one of the checks built-in to the submission process queues any image over a specific size (roughly 2000px). _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I'm not alone here!
I uploaded two pieces of art, and they are showing "pending" at the moment. I wasn't sure if this was something recently implemented as my last piece was approved rather quickly.
I have to admit, I've started coming here to upload some fan art from DeviantART. Not because DA is necessarily bad, but mainly for exposure. I wouldn't be surprised if more people navigate over here too because of some of the stuff DA has been doing to their user base. |

Unfortunately, the staff here sometimes aren't able to get to the submission queues right away. Since the approval comes from human hands, that's why the time can vary so much from under an hour to over a day. I have a feeling that your "trial period" will end soon, however, and you won't have to deal with them anymore. |

^Well, I wouldn't say anymore. Some categories are monitored regardless if you get auto approval status or not, your art will have be screened via the approval panel if you submit to one of them. _________________ THIS SIGNATURE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. |

Yes, but once you learn which categories they are, it's easy to avoid most of them. They tend to be superfluous anyway. |

It would be nice to know what they are regardless. |

I can't remember what they are off the top of my head; I ran into it once or twice, in some of the very generalized categories. Once I realized the submission was pending, I just edited and went in and re-categorized it into something that wasn't restricted. |

I don't know them all either but, I know there was a few examples of some categories that a monitored under one of the FAQs. I'll quote them here:
- Tutorials and all subsections
- Miscellaneous > Digital Art > Pixel Art
- Anime/Manga > Final Fantasy Unlimited
I also know that 'Miscellaneous > Crafts' are monitored as well. I can't really recall any others though. _________________ THIS SIGNATURE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. |

Final Fantasy Unlimited? I wonder why that, of all things, is monitored? Weird. |

^The example I quoted actually did have reasons for why those categories are monitored but, I ended up splicing it out as I didn't think it was too important but, I'll re quote them with the reasoning's for you:
Examples of some monitored categories:
- Tutorials and all subsections: To uphold quality standards for this section; occasional misuse by newbies
- Miscellaneous > Digital Art > Pixel Art: To enforce the definition of 'pixel art'; occasional misuse by newbies
- Anime/Manga > Final Fantasy Unlimited: Frequent confusion with the videogames, which are a separate series.
_________________ THIS SIGNATURE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. |

It's understandable, that large pictures require longer periods for upload, though it's usually impossible to create fine quality group picture (4 characters and more) narrower than 2000 px.
Resizing it to smaller size isn't always best solution as well, since it decreases quality of details.
PS. I'd also ask for help with picture ID: #851477 http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures/user/TeeJay87/851477/Team-Pussycat-Nasty-But-Tasty , which has been lasting in queue since 4th September. |

I am not personally a fan of the 'quality' argument, but I do agree it varies depending on the piece. I tend to not care about most pictures in the 2000px range (damn resolution creep) but I am definitely more likely to reject it if it looks like it was submitted at the original scan/production resolution. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

This one http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures/user/TeeJay87/853880/Team-Pussycat-Big-Fat-Hairy-Deal was originally 1200x2100 px, I've resized it to 1143x2000 px and it's still pending approval. |
