Death Note was great for about the first half or so. They dragged it on way to long though, and Near and Mellow were trash additions.

I enjoyed the anime, and didn't really notice a drag in the second half. I would agree that mello and near were under formed characters but that's only because we knew L for so long in comparison. Light is not working closely to either of them. Loved the ending, if possible more than the manga's, cause when that door opens and light runs, I get all warm inside.

L's death was necessary, I mean, I was pulling for light to win but there was no way L could pin it on light after light made it a possibility he was being controlled.

I get all warm inside because when you hear the door creak in the last episode it's very cinematic. That's good film making right there. Bringing out the drama in small moments. Way better then Light just... having a heart attack, which still happens, the way they did it dramatized the whole thing. I'm a sucker for well thought out scenes.

Agreed. That last saga was pretty bad.

I loved the anime ending more than the manga too Very Happy

Very awsome how they showed Light run past himself remembering when he had just gotten that black lil notebook that changed his life completely. Plus showing him seeing L was pretty clever too, as if L were waiting for him giving him a hint he knew all along and that justice was served.

If they ever do make another death note, it should be with different characters cause well, most of the current ones are umm DEAD xD

Plus I do agree they dragged out the 2nd part too much, though the ending and beginning music was pretty wicked. (-loves despair the billy-)
And Mello and Near although under developed reminded me of what would happen if you split L apart (One likes sweets, another likes to build and poke at things to help them think somewhat, plus both are out for themselves)

All in all it was an ok anime, Ryuk was my most favorite. x3
