Sounds like the game is worth the wait, I just hope the Gamecube one is as good cause I'm no where near rich enough to dish out $250+ for the Wii and games.

Here's hoping for a good Christmas haul XD

Oh yeah, I just got Okami. I love it, the art is really extrordinary and different. The paintbrush is luv<3 <3 <3

My complaint is I haven't hear Ammy talk yet, or maybe I'm just not far enough, or maybe I'm not paying attention...probably the last one.

Did I mention the paintbrush is awesome?

I finished it today. Still have some more poes to kill (second round) and bugs to get and heart peaces to get, but I've finished all the dungeons and the obvious final battle.

Ammy talks about as much as Link does. In other words, don't expect more than an occasional growl or bark (and you can bark on command).

As for Twilight Princess, I am now on the seventh dungeon and I think I already know what the big treasure will be.

Yes, although the Twilight Realm is completely dispelled after the third dungeon, Link's time as a wolf is far from over. There's one midboss you have to combat both as a human and as a wolf, there are still more scent trails to track down, and the snow on the mountain is so deep that the only way to cross it (without sinking thigh-deep in it) is on all fours. And you have enemy ice wolves to contend with, too.

Boy that fourth dungeon was long. But the device you got in it was cool, it felt like rail-grinding. Link's never done that before.

And then there was a snowboarding minigame in the mountain area.

The fifth dungeon was very . . . unique. It didn't totally feel like a dungeon,\ (was a giant mansion of sorts), and the midboss felt like a really old-school homage. Remember in the SNES Zelda where you fought that ball-and-chain wielding soldier in order to rescue Zelda from the dungeon? Now imagine a similar battle in 3D. The enemy is fully armored and swings a nasty ball and chain which can travel nearly the entire length of the arena, and the walls of the arena leave it cramped with very little room to dodge.

The sixth dungeon had an awesome midboss battle too, a fully armored knight with a (huge) sword and shield. Even though you can protect against that hefty sword with your shield, Link still gets knocked around with each hit. And as you keep knocking his armor plating off, eventually he throws down the large sword and shield, then draws another (thankfully, not so huge) sword and begins to attack you with twice the speed. And the item you get after defeating him was extremely cool to use throughout the dungeon. Smashing through walls and those laser towers as if they were mere toys.

Let's see... as far as sidequests go, I think I stand at 35 Poes down and 14 bugs collected. I know I saw one in the desert province, but....

I made it down to the 35th or so level of the Cavern of Trials. Stupid Redeads wore me down. They're easy to take out one or two at a time, but four? Ouch.

And there was this one hidden village north of Hyrule Castle which you have to free from enemy raiders. The sunset glow, the music, the arrow-vs-arrow combat, taking out the enemies felt like something you'd expect from a Wild West shootout.

Expect to see more of them later.

And you get a great sword fight with ganondorf at the end. Takes many many hits to take him down.

Cavern of Trials I am not famialiar with. Where is that?

That large hill in Gerudo Mesa where you Clawshot your way up and discover a warp point. It's right there underneath the slab of concrete.

By now I've finished the game. The gameplay really accelerated near the end, no side events tying into the main plot, but on the flipside this means that the last few dungeons went by very quickly.

Went through Hyrule Castle in a single run, wrangled Ganon up a bit, then beat him sword on sword. Tense battle -- it won't strain your thumbs, but actually hitting Ganondorf is the hard part. In a way it kinda reminds me of the final battle in Wind Waker (which was also a swordfight between Link and Ganondorf), in that you can block most of Ganondorf's attacks easily, but he blocks yours just as easily himself, so it takes a lot out of you.

Ending was . . . I dunno, I haven't decided. It didn't feel like an anticlimax as did Okami's ending, but at the same time it is indeed over, and it had its share of 'sad' to go around.

As far as other stats go, I didn't do much fishing, but I did play most of the mini-games, caught 45 Poes and 14 insects. All but a dozen or so Pieces of Heart, and I never did figure out what that third armor slot on the Collection screen was for.

There is a side quest chain that gets you "magic armor". It drains rupees (fast) to make you not take damage.

Here is a vague summery of how to get it.

Talk to the Gorons in castle town.
Talk to the Goron outside malo mart and give money to the one inside.
After that he'll want more money, give him that too.
Then go to the store in castle town and buy it (it'll cost you 598 or something).

as for the "slab of concrete" (I assume you mean the obelisk) I never figured how to do anything with it.

You mean you didn't have Link sniff it out as a wolf?

There are very few health powerups in the Cavern of Trials, but there is a moment of pause every ten floors and the Great Fairy rewards you by releasing fairies to the various springs of light throughout the land.

(By comparison, I must've spent an hour trying to figure out how to turn on the giant fan in the sky dungeon. The ceiling is too high for the Clawshot, and I knew it had to be something simple. I eventually fell through the ceiling while toying around in the upper room and suddenly it dawned on me exactly what I needed to do, and yes it did make me feel stupid for not figuring it out sooner.)

I'm still at a bit of a loss over whether you can actually fix the bridge west of Castle Town. There's no warp point nearby, nor giant chunks of bridge left strewn about the scenery (that I've found, at least).

There's also those treasure boxes high up on pillars near the Bridge of Eldin (and one in the fountain south of Castle Town) that don't seem accessible, plus a tower on the bridge of Eldin that is too far to jump. Those seem to be the only mysteries I haven't figured out yet.

As far as the final moments of the game go....

- The Light Arrows do make an appearance.
- Ganondorf does turn himself into a large dark beast (again).
- There is a battle where you repel the enemy's projectiles back with your sword.
- And you can't finish Ganondorf off using standard swordplay alone, there is a specific moment to finish him off in, and if you miss that, you have to keep fighting until you get another chance to end it. Sort of like Wind Waker.

Right, that one has me stumped. So, too, do the ones near the Eldin Bridge. You can't Clawshot onto a treasure box (unlike previous Zeldas), and there's nothing nearby to jump off of.

Nothing to sniff, and nothing of interest with wolf sense. What obvious thing am I missing here? All Midna says is its man-made.

Midna is correct, because the object's actually chunk of broken bridge.

The wooden bridge near Kakariko isn't the only one the twilight monsters stole off with....

I took care of it.

That cave under it is a real pain. It just keeps going.

Yeah, it is. I'm betting it has fifty floors just like the similar cave in Wind Waker, but I've only gotten about as far as floor 36 or so.

Turns out that Redeads are vulnerable to the ball and chain, but those icy spear-wielding enemies are just as painful. They always seem to attack at the worst time.

Good news though is that at least those huge ice-breathing monsters don't regenerate between visits.

It's not out for GameCube yet, but should be by next week.

Found some interesting news regarding Twilight Princess in the latest issue of Nintendo Power. Apparently, in the E3 2006 demo you actually did press a button to attack using Link's sword, but feedback was that people wanted to swing the Remote in place of sword-swinging, so Nintendo reworked the control scheme to do just that. Which certainly explains why Link's sword-swings don't always match yours.

Additionally, retrofitting the game for the Wii ultimatley had a few effects on the GameCube version's control scheme.

I just started my Twilight Princess yesterday. Today I reached the forest temple but, I'm kinda stuck on that plant that swallowed the key. I got as far ss taking out the head but, I just can't seem to figure out what to do with the other part.

After taking out the head, notice how the body opens up like a big gaping maw?

What can you toss in there to get the key out . . . .
