Tsk tsk, Thomas.... Rolling eyes We ALL knew that Very Happy jk

I like it because they have some characters we can relate to. And it's always fun to find a really great manga that makes you want to cry, laugh, or whatever.

But, then again, that is a good question...

Yes, Lindsay. But you still have to some credit because there are shows that are like anime, but not from Japan. Like Avatar for example. ^^

Yeah, in Japan they are more open with that kind of stuff so they wouldn't be as "safe" as American ones because it's their culture and ours/theirs (depending on where you live).

Okay then, back on topic...

Actually, I've been wondering about that too. I've tried to figure out why I like it myself, but I still haven't come up with a good answer.

Things might be different where I live, since only a few animes have been aired in Sweden (most of them obnoxious kiddie shows), but I have made something of a discovery. Many people who watch anime has something of a "I watch anime, it comes from Japan and is really exotic, aren't I cool!!!" attitude. Personally, I like all things animated (and comics, too). And if I get something animated with a more mature storyline, then I guess it's only natural for me to like it. Maybe that's my answer. But then again, I've watched other animated things that turns to adults, and I found that to be unbearably boring, so I don't think that's a good answer either.

Wow. I could just go on and on about this one. Rolling eyes Well, in MY case, I love the beauty of it. The art just inspires me and I love it! How all those pictures put together make one whole. I may sound a bit weird, but it's sorta...my passion... The day I first heard of manga, I knew I wanted to be a manga-ka.

But, of course, others have their own reasons. ^^

The art, the characters (and their big eyes), the color, the story (like a book on TV), and the songs! Anime got me into drawing too!

I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)

We can go on and on on this subject.

Anime has very good story lines, the funny things and expressions. The song, oh my.....the song even though i can sing some and can't understand not one word, they are wonderful. You can even relate to some of the characters at some point. Most of all the wasy japanese animation is, how it is drawn, it astounds me! Anime brings the imagination to life. Without this, Anime (and manga)would be not worth watching. And I would never have grown to love it or draw it......

I like anime and manga because of the personalities of the different characters. And because of everything else that was mentioned! ^_^

The big eyes all the anime and manga characters have were actually first inspired by Betty Boop. Just thought you'd like to now. ^^
-------------------------------------

The previous post, before mine, is very true. They do have a very wide variety of audiences and it can be because most people can relate. But there are also other reasons for it, like: the art, some of the stories are like the life you wish you could have but never will, stuff like that. In other words, going on about that 'life you wish you could have but never will' thing; you can't actually relate to it, but you wish you could.

Why do I like anime/ manga? My goodness, where do I start? :)

First of all, I think I like anime because of it's plots and storylines. Sometimes the complexity of anime/ manga is really deep, and you can't find that sort of thing in American cartoons. Honestly, do you think Americans could have thought up series such as Full Metal Alchemest or Cowboy Bebop? I really don't think so. Anime/ mangas are very original and unique, and you can't get quality like that just anywhere.

Also, the art. I think anime/ manga has some of the most beautiful art in the world. It may seem silly, but I think that Japanese are is just plain gorgeous. Not only that, but it's fun to draw! The characters always look so cool, and there's almost no limits to what you can do to your character. In America, blue-haired, pink-eyes, cat-eared half demons aren't what someone would even think of drawing. But in Japanese art, it's just an ordinary kind of thing.

And lastly, I'll say that part of the reason I like anime/ manga is because they can take you into a world entirely unlike our own. I love anime/ manga because stuff happens in them that could never really happen in real life.

I have about a billion more things in mind, but I'll leave it as this for now. All I can say is that I just plain love everything about Anime/ manga.

Hm, I like anime because it's like an alternate reality. (for lack of a better word) Some parts can be so closely related to real life it's scary, but at the same time, lot's of stuff happens that could never happen in reality. Oy, guess that's not explaining it well. I can't think of a good way to explain it though...

Any forms of entertaintment, whether it be in forms of visual experience, music, and physical pleasure, are methods of escaping the harsh reality of finite end

Anime is different.
Different is good.
Lotsa good details & good plots, cause shows like Braceface & Totally Spies gets boring after awhile about high school girls/saving the world, kind of stuff.

Actually, I don't think the question was why people like to draw anime inspired pictures, more like "Why do people like to watch the anime movies/TV series?" But go ahead, draw all the porn you like Smile
