Ok! I found this picture on the picture of the hour right? Well it looked as if it has been screencap-ed. my friend who was with me agrees, so I decided to take a look around google. And I can't seem to find it but that doesn't stop them from using the DVD on their computer and copying it off right? (wouldn't know doesn't have a DVD drive) So I ask ye if ye could help me out a wee bit... ;/ Thankers.

http://www.boomspeed.com/flamingword2/report2.jpg (Picture in Question)

http://www.boomspeed.com/flamingword2/report3.png (Lines for the picture, or out line. But you can outline with photoshop right? )

http://www.boomspeed.com/flamingword2/report1.png (Either way, this is what a normal picture of their gallery would be, so i think it could be a trace, if not a screencap)

Google searched:

FMA, ED

FMA, ED, eyes closed

FMA, ED, screencap

Screencap, FMA

FMA

Background is a Photoshop cloud filter, but the image looks an awful lot like one from one of the opening sequences (the second, perhaps?). I don't have the time to look for it, but maybe someone else can dig it up.

THAT pose looks EXTREMELY awkard for a CG, I don't think any artist would draw anyone in that position for a picture, yeah I think it IS part of a screencap, I've never watched FMA, so I'm not much a help here Uneasy

I'm absolutely sure that's from the second op - right near the beginning. (I just got my dvds out to check. XD) It's the same picture, except that rather than the funky background, it has the flowers. Then when the flowers burst, Ed wakes up. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? o.o; At anyrate it might be a screencap. [s]That art looks like the person redrew the pose without tracing to me, though, 'cause the lines look kinda shaky. (Then again, it could just be a bad resize job...)[/s]

Yeah, on second look, it looks like a screencap with the bg editted out and resized badly. :x

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. I couldn't remember the exact sequence though. I'd have checked myself, but most of my anime is on the other side of the world from me... Makes things difficult. >_<

You think it's screencapped? The color palette looks different from that used in the anime.

Maybe a little, but colours can be altered really easily. Also, it may have been a screencap from a fansub with encoding that's slightly off. Who knows? The most we should do right now is find a suitable screenshot of that pose and compare the lines.

I found it Very Happy

I signed the guest book at Thedbarchives and told the site master to take a look at this thread, and they sent me an email about it. Don't I outsource well?

It's from the 2nd Opening, Ready Steady Go

Nice work. :P

Alright. Did a comparison [by eye]. Looks like my pseudo-theory that they redrew the pose without tracing is more or less correct. There's a lot of little discrepancies between the fanart and the screenshot.

That might be true, except that screencap might be taken miliseconds after or before the identical screencap to the picture in question, it's just that it is impossible to get the exact screencap.

no you can, she took the screencap of the anime moment a nanosecond before or after the screencap I obtained (minor differences) and put it through multiple filters from photoshop, and I think that can be used against the person by the inquisitors. I don't think Layzcarter nor Fallen will care even if we can't get the EXACT screencap, it's near impossible.

That's what happens when the Picture of the Hour is determined randomly...

Yeah, but. The thing is, a lot of the lines are different, including the shading and whatnot. Not only that, but it doesn't matter whether the screencap was taken a millisecond before or after - it's not going to change the lines and shading simply because it's easier (and costs less/saves time) to use one large picture and just slide it through, which eats some frame time. If you look closely, there are parts in the fanart where the lines are a slightly different shape, or missing altogether from the screencap.

So I still stand by my theory mentioned earlier. o.o;

I still think replicating a picture to this similarity is bannable

Did they mention that they used a sreencap or official picture, or whatever else there is, as a referance? Cause if they didn't, I'm pretty sure you get in trouble for that too.

It's really confusing when no mods notices and don't reply with a "thumb down" or "nah... I'll pass this over"... You don't want to let the thread die, but you don't want to bother them with PM's either...
