Very nice in a dark way, Nili. I like the suspenseful mood. The only thing is the repetition of some words. I kept seeing "dark" and "form" as though you lack synonyms. Me, personally, I like different words every so often. If you did that to make a point, then okay. Smile

At the end of that, I just want to know how Assassin got to the Brotherhoods' chambers and saw the killer. Unless the killer went to her room? Anyhoo, I bet it'd be even more "GASP! Cliffhanger!" if you ended not in a question of the form "...And[...]?"

Into what fanfic will you turn this?

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

My turn. Just trying to get back into writing again. Some random story inspired by my current book (that I have to read for school), The Awakening, by Kate Chopin.

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Sandry walked below the canopy of trees, stroking her hair and fussing with her dress. The day was hot, the sun blaring down through a cloudless sky. Fortunately, she was under the shade of the trees and a light breeze was blowing through, rustling leaves and free wisps of hair. A few small birds chirped freely in the branches. She looked up and tried to spot the origin of the chirps, but the leaves obscured her view.

Taking a deep breath, Sandry continued down the covered walkway. Her long white dressed dragged along the paved ground, fathering dust and other inanimate objects, but she paid no heed but to the weight of her layered dress. Every so often, the lace would catch hold of someothing and halt Sandry's quickening gait. Each stop turned her more furious and less careful, eventually ending up in her holding the tail of her dress in her arms.

A red-orange wisp of hair fell into her face and she blew it away, only to have two more replace it. Laboring to the end of the walkway produced sweat drops that found their way down her face and back. Sandry silently thanked goodness that no one was around to see her sweating like a man.

As she came to the end of the walkway, she stopped at the edge of the cliff. A rusting metal fence stopped anyone from falling off the side. The land below was bare of greenery or any signs of water, but it nonetheless captured her. Not quite like desert sand, the hard dirt was sometimes blown into the air, only to stop against something unseen and fall to the ground. On nights when Sandry could not sleep, she silently embarked out to the cliff and watched. She wasn't sure what she looked for, but continued to wait. The moon and the stars shined an eery glow across the flat of land every night.

Now, Sandry leaned against the bars of the fence and looked out over the land. The scenery was still in her mind's eye when she closed her eyelids. She imagined desert rouges campint out and then riding away on their sakus. Sandry smiled at the thought of riding a saku, the large lizard-bird galloping twice as fast as horses through the hard flat. Its wings would fold out from its sides and it would bring up its thick, scale-encased legs to glide over the ground. The powerful wings would pound the air as it clicked noises through its muzzle. Sandry felt a cool blast of wind and her image was complete.

Footsteps cuased her vision to fade. She turned her head to see a young man, keenly dressed, coming her way. Sandry smiled to him and looked back to the field.

"Mistress Liotel," he called sweetly, "what are you doing so ar over here? The party is way back there."

Sandry sighed and turned around once more, adjusting the tail of her dress. "But, Eugene, I like it out here," she pleaded.

"What? Sitting upon a rusty bar an dlooking at a barren wasteland?"

"Yes!"

"You cake seemed onely," Eugene said, coming to stand with her, "so I decided to accompany it."

"Did you eat it?" she asked accusingly. When he nodded, grinning, he gasped. "My birthday cake! You fiend!"

"Only as fiendish as I wish to be." He smiled and produced a frosted cake from behind him. She grinned and took it, looking around as though a fork would manifest itself from the ground. Eugene noticed the lack of utensils and patted his pockets, but the meager search procured nothing.

"Sorry, I seem to have forgotten that."

Sandry pursed her lips as she flicked her eyes between the shining cake and the curious look on Eugene's face. Shrugging, she handed the cake back to him. He gave an apologetic smile and took the slice. When he looked back up, Sandry had taken off one white glove and had extended a hand to receive her cake back.

"My cake, please," she said.

"You're going to eat it with your hands?" he asked, incredulous, but nonetheless gave it back to her. "Quite unlady-like."

"Yes, yes. But I'm hungry."

Eugene laughed and offered to hold her glove. "Perhaps you should have stayed at the party, then walked out here. Look at you, sweating and hungry."

She looked up in the middle of chewing and exclaimed, "Well, try walking in a five-layer dress and see how hot and hungry you get!" Unfortunately, some bits of cake found their way from her mouth to his black suit. She covered her mouth and gave him an embarassed smile.

"No, no, it's quite all right. I know what you mean; it is very hard to walk in that dress. So, will you come back now?"

"Only if you will carry me!"

Her face lightened up and Eugene could not refuse. He stood before her and she climbed on. Only a few steps later, he stopped, panting. Laughing, Sandry slid off and waited for him to catch his breath. He stood back up, straightened his suit, and escorted Sandry back, her arm placed delicately on his.

Sorry, it's long. C&C accepted! Very Happy

It's wonderful, Pabbit. Smile

It's a fanfic over at Fanfiction.net right now. "The Dark Twins: Prophecy" or something along the lines of that. I left it like that because it's like a later chapter and a prologue at the same time.
~~

The next chapter of "The Dark Twins: Prophecy".

~~

The day was gray, like it always was in Cheydinal, the mountain city of Tamriel. It was unusually chilly, but the inhabitants - Imperials, Nords, Redguards, and a few Khajiit - never noticed. Something bigger was going to happen, and they all knew it.

A young man, a Dark Elf with pale blue skin and silver hair, looked at the sky as it started to rain, and he closed his pale red eyes, letting the cold rain hit his face. From far away, he looked healthy, a strong young fighter with rather pronounced cheekbones. Oh, but up close?

That was far from the truth. He looked aged up close, wrinkles between his eyebrows and dark circles under his eyes making him look years older. His thin lips parted slightly to take in some of the rain, and anyone right next to him could see his canines were sharper than normal. His skin used to be a rich, healthy blue.

Now, it was but a shadow of its former glow.

He looked back forward and continued walking, his leather boots not making a sound. He wore leather greaves, the material torn and worn, and he wore a torn-up sack cloth shirt, the tears showing the defined muscles underneath. It looked like he had more of a twelve-pack instead of a six-pack. His arms were greatly ripped with muscles, and his back bore scars and bruises. All from his time at the Arena.

He stopped in front of the abandoned house, running pale, long, shockingly-smooth fingers over the rough boards that supposedly blocked the door, and turned his pale crimson gaze to the well behind the house. How long had it been... Far too long.

He walked over to the well, resting both pale hands on the rusty grate, and he shifted it aside, putting one leg over the side. His foot found purchase on an iron rung partly embedded in the well, and he climbed down, fixing the grate to where it was supposed to be.

"Ah, Vazkor."

The Elf's name echoed in the hardly lit halls of the sanctuary, in the feminine, yet deep voice in which it had been said.

"Where were you the past few months?" An Argonian woman walked over to him from the shadows, her red eyes gazing at him warmly. "The Night Mother was worried, as were we all. It is not often she shows concern for such a low-ranking member.

Vazkor bowed his head slightly, some stray strands of his fine, silver hair falling in his face. "I had... personal matters to attend to, caves and forts to explore, to better my skills, Ocheeva. I apologize that I did not leave a message to forewarn you of my absence."

A soft, rumbling laugh came from the Argonian's throat. "Young Vazkor, personal things don't need excusing in the Brotherhood. Sithis and the Night Mother are patient; other gods are not, and I know you do frequent the chapels from time to time. Walk with me, hm?" Ocheeva walked past him, her black dress sweeping along the floor lightly. She climbed up the ladder, with Vazkor following behind once she was farther up the well.

The Cheydinal Bridge Inn was quiet. The bartender had an elbow on the oaken table, his face in his hand, and he was falling asleep, despite his attemps not to. Vazkor and Ocheeva sat at a table in a dark corner, sipping Tamika's West Weald Wine. Ocheeva glanced at the Dark Elf. "Something is amiss?"

He sighed, setting his glass down and watching the liquid swish back and forth. "Not long after my last contract involving that meddlesome pig-" She knew he was referring to the late Adamus Phillida. "- I received word that my birth mother was deathly ill, and wanted to see me one last time... She wasn't too happy to learn I was one of the night creatures." He stared moodily at the table. "I told her that I was happier as a vampire," he continued, in a lower voice, "and she seemed content with that. My wife was not, and refused to let me even shake her hand." He paused, clearing his throat, and continuing in a mutter. "My birth mother told me.." He shook his head.

"All my life, I thought someone was missing. I'd always feel like someone was supposed to be there with me, but... they just were never there." He swallowed quietly another gulp of wine. "My birth mother told me, just as she died, that I have two other siblings, that I was from a set of triplets. Now, here's the odd thing... My birth mother was a Wood Elf. My father.. I don't know about him. He and my mother spent one night together, and my siblings and I were the result."

Ocheeva drank some of her wine with a sigh. "You mammals are so confusing. It's easy to tell who the father is. He's the one who guards the eggs."

"We don't lay eggs, Ocheeva."

"You don't?"

"No. We don't."

"Oh.."

They laughed after a short silence, and Vazkor said, "You're as ornery as ever, Ocheeva. Seems to happen only when you drink, hm?"

She set her glass down, rubbing her scaley nose. "I suppose so. As you were saying..?"

"My mother said our father was a Dark Elf, like me, but I'm a mix of two Elvish races. What I didn't understand was that I ended up the only Dark Elf."

"They say it's the women's faults that the children end up female when the men want sons, but it's the mens fault. Men and women are two halves of the child they create."

"I knew that."
~~

All I have at the moment.

Nice. But there are a few problems, first and foremost of which is some uneven wording. I'd advise reading over it a few times before sending, as there are parts that just don't sound quite right. For instance,
Quote:
anyone right next to him could see his canines were sharper than normal.
would sound better as
Quote:
anyone close enough would likely notice abnormally sharp cainines
...or, at least to my ears.

Also,
Quote:
How long had it been... Far too long.
I would expand on that; give it a little more depth before answering it.

But...bad wording in places is all I have to say.

Now, my turn; how's this for a character introduction?:

Quote:
Climax.

An instant lasted an eternity. The heat of the chamber swirled around their two naked bodies as the fruit of their union was lifted into the air and carried around the Temple. The candles flickered with their heavy breathing, and their chests sang in unison as their hearts beat against their chests. Ramona let her eyes close as she revelled in the pleasure she never tired of.

Jacob, unable to hold himself up in the euphoria of the moment, bowed into the sweat of her breast, and kissed her stomach. Ramona smiled, and let herself be lifted as his kisses strayed further down to rest on her navel.

The two of them fell back into the soft red sheets of the bed, Jacob less so graceful as Ramona.

The blonde man, it seemed, had had a very trying day, as he fell into the mists of Morpheus all too quickly. Ramona leaned over him, the sheets pulled back to reveal her breasts; soft and natural which, so she had been told more than once, were absolutely perfect. Her supple body curved like a snake, her pale skin not even folding at her inner side.

A hand with long golden nails stroked the chancellors curly hair as he breathed softly into the scarlet pillow. Slowly, they ran down the back of his head, and she felt the callus of an early injury, and followed the spine to the base of the neck.

The fingertips came to an artery, and they stayed for a moment, letting her become engrossed in the rhythm of his beating heart. The thumping pulse of his mortal being.

She pulled the back and leant over him.

Her fangs extended, and her mouth widened as she bit into the artery, and felt the pulse against her teeth as blood flowed out of the wound. Felt it against her tongue as it gushed into her open mouth. She felt it against the back of her neck as it slipped down her throat, and into her slender body.

Well, Ms?

Ramona will be fine. She smiled.

Ramona, that wasit was an experience I shallum

The madam giggled, and the poor blonde chancellor blushed in spite of himself. Men of power always thought it their place to act almost as if they owed their company something besides hard currency. She had already taken it out of him several minutes earlier, and he had paid her the two hundred for her services already.

Its alright, Chancellor. She said, still smiling. I shant forget it either. I hope to find myself in your service again, some time.

She kissed his cheek, which was reverting to its natural pale, and nodded her farewell.

Ramona shut the door and sighed. She always felt guilty feeding from her clients, but she knew that she simply couldnt resist herself when they fell asleep next to her. It had taken considerable skill and effort to avoid falling into her slumbers when she started out in this business. For those such as her, the mists of Morpheus were so tempting when two bodies met in union. It was in actuality, the only chance she ever got to actually embrace sleep, as well. Unlike the humans, her own body was too far evolved to stoop to sleeping the night or in some cases, the day away.

Her hand strayed to her neck, where the pendant often hung just between her breasts, but it grasped nothing but air. Her brow furrowed with a sense of loss that was all too easy to provoke nowadays, and her pale blue eyes (which many mistook for grey) searched the room in search of the one thing in the world she truly cared for.

It wasnt anywhere to be seen.

She walked, maintaining her calm, to the bedside table, and opened the drawers. There was incense and a nice collection of matches. No pendant.

Shuddering slightly, she got onto her knees and looked under the bed.

No pendant.

The sheets were thrown off the bed, revealing nothing but the metallic pink lining and the scarlet pillows. She tossed the pillows at the wall.

No pendant.

Visibly unnerved, now, she began to kick the floor-cushions in a vain hope of finding something.

Nothing.

Tears slid down her cheek, and angry growls escaped her mouth as she gave in an uncontrollable rage. She kicked a velvet pillow at the wall, where it smashed the frame of a painting that someone had given her in payment for her services.

Ramona fell to her knees, and her hands took hold of her shoulders.

There was something there.

The tears ceased as she reached into one of the many hidden pockets of her clothes, and pulled out a silver pendant. It was an ornate cross with a pentacle over the top, and from certain angles is often looked like a rose. Each and every line and curve had a million other tiny shapes embedded within, and shielded from the outside by a layer of the purest crystal.

She kissed it and breathed deep the faint scent it held. The only sound in the room was the thin rattling of the silver chain.

After what felt like a long wait, she put it on, and held the moment as she felt the comforting weight against her chest once more.

Finally, she got to her feet, and embraced Spirit. Within seconds, she had set the room right, and put the broken picture inside one of her personal drawers.

That was really good, Orlando! Very Happy Only problem I see is that there kind of needs to be a bit of a signal in a timechange right after she bites him..

~~

Well, Ms?

Right there where I put the funny ~~ mark.. ^^;

~~

Song is Don't Laugh At Me by Mark Wills. It's a beautiful song, and it's got a true meaning. This is done in a script format. It's about a bunch of random RP characters I'm partly involved with; however, not all are mine, and not all are the same age at the same time.

~~

I'm a little boy with glasses, the one they call the geek

Matt, a little boy of hardly six, pushed his glasses up his nose, sniffling as the kids who had been picking on him walked away. His large, circular glasses just fell down his nose again, and he hugged his knees, crying quietly.

A little girl who never smiles 'cause I got braces on my teeth

Ten-year-old Georgie looked in the mirror with her teeth bared, and she winced as the light hit the metallic part of the metal on her teeth. She pressed her lips together, crossing her arms tightly over her chest.

And I know how it feels to cry myself to sleep...

Seven-year-old Dean hid his face in the pillow, crying hard. One hand was on his right ear, which was slightly furry due to his father's scientifically added wolf genes, and his other hand tightly clenched the uniform bedspread. He drifted to sleep, still crying.

I'm that kid on every playground who's always chosen last

Fifteen-year-old Miya kicked at the hard black asphalt as the other kids in line were chosen for the basketball game, and she sighed mutedly as she was told to sit out due to being the odd kid out, again. She sat down on the bench, watching sadly the other kids as they played the sport she loved so much.

Then she looked down at her lower left leg, at the shiney blue, hard half-metal that glinted faint green in the yellow lights of the gym. She bit her lip, and went back to watching the game.

A single teenage mother tryin' to overcome my past

Sixteen-year-old Amane picked up her oldest son, sighing exasperatedly as her other two cihldren, who were twins, ran around, screaming their heads off. She rubbed her pregnant belly, sighing, and just barely managed to pick her remaining two kids up with a claw she grew from her back. She sat them in the car, leaning against the car door, and her son hugged her arm. "It's okay, Mommy. We still love you, even if Daddy's being a meanie and doesn't love you."

Amane smiled waterily, and kissed her son's nose. "Thank you so much, Allen..."

You don't have to be my friend.. Is it too much to ask?

A little four-year-old boy held a hand out to a little girl his age, her dark blond hair glimmering softly in the fading sunlight as the storm started. His own brown hair was already matted to his head from the waterballoon fight earlier, and he'd noticed her sitting alone.

She looked up, green-blue eyes blinking in surprise. His blue eyes were friendly, and worried.

"We need to go inside.. You have any friends 'round here?"

She shook her head with a sad look on her face. "None 'cept my sissy.."

He helped her up, smiling. "I'll be your first new friend then.

As they walked into the daycare building, the little girl mumbled under her breath, "I don't want any friends... they always get taken away."

~~

S'all I have right now.

Sorry for the doublepost. x-x
~~

The exerpt of song from the end is from Bittersweet by Within Temptation. Tsuki is my character. X belongs to a friend.

Anyway, I was bored, and the song made me sad... and it inspired me. x-x

~~

A soft wind blew across a large, grassy clearing in the middle of a huge forest, a calm lake's waters rippling gently as the air caressed the clear surface. From the beautiful blue sky, the sun shone gently on the bright green, lush grass, which seemed to ruffle as another, less benevolent wind blew past.

The sky turned a sinister bloodred, and the sun turned a painfully bright crimson. A dark shadow fell across the clearing as a form was thrown harshly on the ground, buckling the ground hard enough to leave a crater. The figure groaned quietly in pain as the colors and hues and shades went back to normal, and it glared with luminous emerald eyes at birds that twittered and flittered.

The form, now visibly female, slowly sat up, rubbing her stomach gingerly; there was a scar visible on her pale skin through several tears in her neon orange tanktop. She looked up at the sky, shaking her other fist at it. "Damn you!!"

A lightning bolt hit the ground near her, charring the grass. She swallowed.

"Okay-okayokay!! I meant, Thank you!!"

The cloud drifted away, pausing as if glaring at her before moving on.

The girl stood up, wincing as the scar bled somewhat; it hadn't fully healed. It faded away, blood, scar tissue, markings, and all, and she stared at where the wound had been. What...

She looked around after climbing out of the crater, and she sat on the sandy shore, trying to remember what had happened.

Gunshots rang sharply through the halls of the destroyed building, and a man was holding her tightly as they hid behind the wall. His hair, soft and a light blond color, tickled her face gently. His arms were around her comfortingly but strongly, and his warm body was pressed against hers. Any other time, she'd've considered it heaven.

But considering the current circumstances that some psycho loon was trying to kill them, it was more a comfort.

Her hands pressed softly against his blood-stained shirt, her head turning up to look at him. His right eye was a silvery golden, his left eye a sharp, but gentle blue. The only time they ever held any emotion that was positive - happy, love, laughter - was when he was truly feeling happy.

Their eyes met, her green eyes locked with his differently-colored eyes. The gunshots and footsteps were closer than ever, and they knew...

They both knew the fact.

They both knew they'd die.

They both weren't sure if they'd see each other again, ever.

He leaned down and kissed her lips softly, holding her tighter against him, wanting to feel her against him for as long as possible. Their hands interlaced as she kissed him back just as softly, wanting to cherish it as long as she could.

A heavy footstep made them both jump, and the man turned with him in her arms-

And he let out a single note of pain as a few bullets collided with his back, forcing him to lean against her. She held onto him tightly, trembling softly, and she kissed him once more, crying quietly. "X... I'm sorry..."

Blood trickled out of his mouth as he laughed softly, weakly. "Ts... Tsuki... I'm the one who should be... apologizing... for... all the things I've done..." He coughed, more blood dripping past his lips, and he started to feel heavy against her thin frame. She closed her eyes, pressing her face against his shoulder as she cried openly, sobbing softly.

The form grabbed the back of her shirt roughly, dragging her back from X's still, lifeless form, which crumpled to the ground. His eyes were half-open, and had none of the shine they used to. He could't be gone so fast already...

Tsuki let out a single cry of pain, her mouth opening in an attempt to scream for help, as a sword was thrust through her back, passing through her spine, stomach, and front, before being pulled out sharply. She was thrown onto the ground hard, and the steps walked away. Blood pooled from her greivous wound, and she weakly reached her hand out toward X.

With barely enough strength, X managed to reach his own hand out to hers, and they laced fingers, smiling faintly at each other, their lips speckled with their own blood and their clothes stained with the crimson fluid.

"X...?"

"Y..es, Tsu..ki?"

"Love you.. always.." Her vision was swimming, and becoming darker by the second. She could barely hear X's whisper back.

"L...ove... you... f...ev... pas... d... th..."

Tsuki opened her eyes, sobbing loudly, her hands on her face as she cried harder than she ever had before. "X, I'm sorry!" She bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, and she curled up, crying more.

After she stopped crying, she wiped her eyes, sobbing softly, and she looked at the sky.

"He'll be with you soon, Liana."

She jumped, looking around.

"Just trust me for once."

The voice faded away, and she looked back at the still lake waters. The nighttime sky had come up, and the moon seemed to accent her own crescent moon shaped scar on her right cheek.

"X... I promise I'll wait for you." She hugged her knees, looking at the simple band on her left ring finger. They'd been married for barely two months...

She looked back at the lake, trying not to cry again.

All my thoughts are with you, forever
Until the day we'll be back together
I will be waiting for you...

~~

Dammit, I started cryin' writing this... ;-; Either that, or it's the fact my dog's fartin' up a storm.

Thanks. ^^
~~~
Hellooooo??? Anyone here lately? Sad
Random thoughts about Thanksgiving. Bleh.
~~~

Thanksgiving. A time of family, food, and football. Mostly the football.

...

God, I HATE football. Make it stop. Please. I'm begging you.

The food I can't stand. I hate the smell of turkey; it makes me sick and then I can't even eat the pickles. The only things I eat are hotdogs, green beans, lettuce, and pickles. A LOT of pickles.

Okay, so I'm addicted to them.

They're tasty. Uneasy Dill pickles... yum...

Sweet pickles? Ewwww.

Anyway, every year it's the same thing. Visit my grandma in Pennsylvania and deal with her cooking.

Go to my other grandma's house and eat hotdogs all day.

On Saturday, go visit my grandpa in Ohio and eat pie.

My aunt and cousins might be at my other grandma's for once though. ^^ I hope they bring their dog, Magic. He's such a little sweetheart!

... Well, 'little' is an oxymoron considering he's tall as me on his hind legs... He's a newfoundland. Big, beautiful brown eyes.

And he's so needy. He'll just flop on your feet on his back and look at you all 'rub my belly, pleez?"

He's so cuuute! And he's very protective of little kids. When my cousin's friend came over with her baby, Magic protected that little kiddie like there was no tomorrow. Aw..
He even let the little kid ride on his back! ^^

Uh... just disregard my post above. >>;
~~~~~
The female character is my own; her 'illness' is inspired by the latest episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the one where Zuko caught that really bad fever. The male character belongs to a friend of mine.
This actually happened in an RP.
~~~~~

Pain. Gurgling, dreadful, agonizing pain. It's all I felt that night. That, and an intolerable fever all over. I couldn't sleep well. My red hair was plastered against my face; I knew my eyes held nothing but misery in their emerald depths. My already pale skin was an even whiter tone from my illness, despite the fact it really should've been a flush. That only indicated what I thought the cause was.

Damn it, I need to remember to practice my pyrokinetics more...

A hand rested against my forehead, and I opened my eyes a little, shivering. It was my husband. Oh, come on... I didn't need him to worry about me. He had enough on his plate as it was: mental disorders, multiple people in his head, anxiety, the works of a former child soldier. I still loved him a lot, though.

When he left the room for a few minutes, I closed my eyes, which were hurting from the light. It was barely dawn, but it still made my eyes sore. My breathing was shakey; I felt like I had the flu all over again.

I felt his hand stroking my cheek gently, and I heard him gently demand, "Drink this, or you'll become dehydrated." I opened my eyes a little and saw he'd gotten a glass of water, and I sat up somewhat and drank some of it before setting it on the sidetable and coughing a little. I was shivering a little, and my arms could barely hold me up. My legs felt like rubber.

He left the room again, and I lay back down on my back this time, closing my eyes with the sheets and blankets up to my neck. I felt like I was burning and melting at the same time.

Ugh... hate it.

He rested a warm, wet towel on my forehead, and I sighed quietly, my eyes still closed. I mumbled an almost incoherent thank you, my eyes still closed.

He watched me for awhile - I could still tell he was there - and eventually he stood up. "Get better." I nodded numbly; what else could I do?

I did not sleep well for the rest of the night. I tossed. I turned. Once I actually had to get up and half-stumble to the bathroom before I tossed what little I'd managed to eat that day. It took me awhile to get back to the bedroom; my legs were lead and my vision was swimming.

When I managed to curl back up under the covers, I finally noticed him sleeping near me. It calmed me down a little, and my eyes closed, finally falling asleep.

Urgh. Muses, shut up. ;-;
~~~~~
Inspired by random dark songs. I need to stop listening to Rammstein. O.o
~~~~~

A soft white moon hung low in the eastern side of the sky, casting its ethereal rays down upon the grassy plains and forests. The western side had a brightly colored sunset fading away into the darkness, vivid oranges fading gently into deep purples and then the starry blackness of the nighttime sky. Intangible shadows seemed to fade into the disappearing light, and a faint breeze blew the branches with a faint 'shhh' sound. An owl gave a muted 'hoo-hooo' somewhere in the giant oak trees, but after that, all was silent.

Five Minutes

A man with his hands tied behind his back and a handkerchief stuffed inbetween his mouth, was hunched over a table. Bound and gagged, he did little to struggle in this little predicament, for there was one little factor that prevented him from doing so freely. Another man stepped intimidatingly across the room, his shuffled movement slow, but loud. In his veined, pulsing hands, was a shotgun. Loaded, and ready to go in case of trouble. The man holding the weapon stopped in front of the other man and bent down so he was face to face. The man gagged made his best at an intimidating angry glare, but to no avail. The other man took the butt of the shotgun and smashed it across his face, breaking some teeth, and most likely, his jaw. The man made a muffled scream.

"John Decks, your refusal to acknowledge the situation has led you to a most unfortunate end. Any refusal to acknowledge this situation will end in death, I am afraid." He rested the weapon over his right shoulder and pulled up a chair so he could sit down in front of John. A loud, painful scraping noise erupted as the chair moved against the marble-plaid floor. The fold-able metal chair smacked the floor and the man holding the shotgun plopped down. Fingering his weapon, he sighed.

"Money, as you, and every other damn person on the earth knows, is what makes the earth go round. Literally. Perhaps you forgot this when you $&#* with me, Decks." He did a light, but solid punch across John's face, and this caused the handkerchief to stain with rose red. The man holding the shotgun snorted. He ripped off the handkerchief, revealing a hanging jaw and a bloody alcove. John spat it out, staining the marble floor.

"Did you just spit on my marble floor?" He roughly shoved the butt of his shotgun right in the middle of John's face. John yelled in pain. "Well? Did you?" He sighed and shook his head. "What a mess. I'm afriad you won't be here to clean that up." He abruptly stood up, and reached into his left pocket. Using his free hand, he pulled out a timer. He set it, and then clicked the start button. "You have exactly five minutes to tell me where the $&#* you hid the money you owe. If you cannot enlighten me, this shotgun will blow a hole through your ass. This starts now."

He eyeballed the near-lifeless John with a passive stare. His unruly frown was matched only by the fierce glint in his greedy eyes. John made a small whimper, a pitiful sound born out of an unrelenting pain.

"I... I..."
"You what?"
"D... do... don't..."
"What was that?"
"Give... give a..."
"What?"
"F... $&#*... for... what @^*%... you'll do to me..."
"I see... Perhaps it's time for some good 'ol blackmail, eh?"

The man with a shotgun walked over to a cabinet that sat lonely against a wall. He lifted a small carpet pad which underlay a brass key. He lightly unlocked it and removed a picture frame. John struggled to see what it depicted, but he was simply too weak to move his body. The man with a shotgun returned to his spot with a hearty grin on his face.

"What the hell are you up to?"

The man with a shotgun wordlessly turned the picture around so John could eye what he was trying to show him. His heart stopped and his pained tears stopped flowing. His small attempts at breaking the ropes that bonded him immediately ceased and any other signs of life that he showed instantly slowed. Depicted on the picture frame, was his wife, head blown off, body naked and obviously used. John's wife looked as if she had been discarded by a seven year old girl tired of a doll... it was sickening, and ravaging him at the same time. He threw up a pailfull of bile. The man with the shotgun was still grinning, halfheartedly now.

"You have a daughter, do you not? You wouldn't want this unfortunate event to occur, would you? Eh? John? What do you say?" The man with a shotgun glanced at his pocketwatch. "The clock is ticking Mr. Decks, and unfortunately, time's about to run out." He shoved the timer in John's face, and it showed that he had a little under a minute left.

"Alright! Alright! Just... please, don't..."
"Hurry up Mr. Decks, time's about to run out..."

John struggled to remember. What the $&#*!? Why the hell couldn't he remember? WHY!? A recent flashback of events told him that it was all the damage to his head that was ruining his memory. He couldn't remember! He couldn't $&#* remember! @^*%! @^*%!

"The money, I..."
"10... 9... 8..."
"It's... it's in a warehouse... I... I can't remember..."
"7... 6... 5..."
"Please, please, this can't be happening. Oh God, this can't..."
"4... 3... 2..."
"NO! Don't! Please! You heartless bastard! Stop!"

"1... 0." The man with a shtogun clicked the stop button just as it hit 0. His normally mischevious face transformed into one of utmost glee. His smile was like the Cheshire Cat's. Seemingly evil, seemingly eerie, yet, seemingly mysterious all the same. But it wasn't mysterious. John knew exactly what was going to happen. The man with a shotgun loaded the shells into the firing bay. John instantly started to scream.

---

Outside, it was night. The port was quiet. Nothing could be heard, for it was late at night. Suddenly, a boom erupted. A piegon flew. Lights here and there suddenly flicked on. But the confusion soon stopped. No one cared. And no one ever would. The lights flicked back off. The cautious piegon flew back to its roost.

The light in the warehouse flicked off.

The End

"Tell me again how I lost you?" Jerrod asked.

"You didn't." Alyssa said.

"I know I did." he said. "I can see it in your eyes."

Alyssa looked down at Jerrod's hands. His hands had always turned her on, but now there was nothing. She didn't even lust for him when she stared at his lips, like she had always done. Alyssa sighed and fought the sudden urge to cry.

Jerrod had been her love since the eleventh grade, and she married him just six years ago, but he didn't remember. His memory was stolen when his SUV slid on that patch of ice last week. But that wasn't when she stopped loving him. No, that happened the day she married him when she looked at him and saw her. The red-head woman that he had slept with thirty minutes before they said there vows. Alyssa should have ended it right there...but love is a powerful thing.

Leeeexxxx!! *glomp* Where were joo? ;-; That was awesome. ^^
~~~~
This is part of the backstory of an RP character of mine. She's partly based after Riddick from Chronicles of Riddick. ^^;
~~~~

"You're not going to die on me, Sunira. Not for me."

"When did you start caring?"

"Because you're my baby sister, you stupid b*tch."

"Love you too, Yuniko."

"Come on, up." The older twin grabbed her sister's hand and pulled her up, grunting a bit as she nearly fell over again, and she hooked the bloodied arm over her shoulders, starting to walk. The younger girl's right leg dragged behind her, and she cried out in pain as her right arm hit against a pipe. Yuni clamped her free hand over Suni's mouth, looking around, and she shook her head. "Shh. I'd rather not have those damn Grue get us."

"Grue?"

"Jack told me about them back in New Mecca. They track beings for their blood; the reason they followed her and Riddick's group was because her body decided to be stupid and make her go on her period right before the whole mess started. I did research on it while I was looking around earlier." Yuni set her down against a building, making sure there were lights around. "Very glad they don't like light, are you?" Suni nodded weakly, rubbing her eyes with her good hand; the other was a mangled mess. Yuni stood up and walked over to the edge of the light, scanning the area. It was pitch black out, the result of the eclipse of the three suns by the two larger planets that surrounded the tiny, almost atmostphereless planet.

"Yuni?"

"Yeah?"

"Where's Mithri?"

"Hell if I know." She sighed, and walked back over to her sister. "I can't see the ship. Little miss Bounty b*tch probably took it, or it's just too dark to see it."

Suni managed a faint giggle, and stood up, leaning against the building. Her sister smiled faintly, and helped her walk to where the ship was. It was next to the solar transporter; it had died when the suns had been eclipsed. Suni stopped moving for some reason, and without warning shoved Yuni into the back of the ship. The sound of blood dripping echoed quietly throughout the silent area, and Suni smiled weakly, blood trickling out of the corner of her mouth. Yuni wasn't sure what was going on, until one of the Grue - horrid, ugly creatures that craved human flesh - pulled her sister into the forbidding darkness.

"Suni?..." She stood up, staring at the darkness. "SUNI!!!!" There was no response, except for the shrieks of the Grue. "You said you wouldn't die for me. You promised, you b*tch!!! Get back here!" Tears fell unnoticed down her face, and she punched the a wall on the inside of the ship, shutting her eyes as she sobbed quietly. Her voice was a weak mumble as she quietly repeated it. "You can't die... you can't..."
---

Once Yuni had gotten the remaining survivors to the ship, she started it up, not saying a word. Mika, a fourteen year old, tapped the restraint bars absently, a bit worried. "Mmpphh... Where's Mithri?"

"Got eaten." Yuni brushed some hair out of her face as she started the ship up, then turned it off, sitting quietly as she watched the creatures. As several got close to the burners, she slammed the gas and burnt them to ashes as the ship flew up and away from the planet, going through the thin atmosphere and escaping the nightmarish monsters that lived there.

And also escaping the pain that her sister, her only friend, was dead.
~~~~
It's not done yet. that's just the first piece of it.
I read a few things on this page, and they were very good. Especially Five Minutes and Orlando's post. Makes me kind of ashamed to put this here.
“...What?”
“You heard me.”
“But it’s so stupid.”
“It’s true!”
“No, it’s not. it’s stupid, and you know it.”
“It’s not stupid! Look, I finally figured it out, you KNEW I was different! Everyone knew!”
“Not like that!”
“No one knew how, no, but I do now, I finally figured it out! That’s why I told you! I thought you’d get it!”
“Get what, exactly?”
“Whadda you mean?”
“Explain it to me again.”
“...Why? I said it fine, I know you understood it.”
“But May... it’s not possible. You’re different, but that’s impossible. Not. Possible. So just forget about it, okay?”
“How can I forget it? It’s what I am-”
“No! You’re not! Anyone can tell you’re not! The doctors who delivered you would’ve noticed!”
“It’s not like that!”
“There’s no other way for it to be! I don’t know where you got this idea, but it’s stupid, okay?! Just drop it!”
“Kyle, you’re supposed to be my best friend. You’re supposed to believe me!”
“You’re dreaming, May! Grow up! The world isn’t made of your imagination, okay?”
“It’s not! I know it’s not! Just shut up, I know it’s not! But it’s not always how you think it is, either! Sometimes you don’t realize something can be a certain way, but that doesn’t mean it can’t!”
“May, you’re not-”
“If you grew up around pine trees your whole life, and someone came and told you about willow trees, you wouldn’t believe them because you’re srupid like that!”
“Don’t call me stupid!!”
“But that doesn’t mean willow trees don’t exist!!”
“That’s just dumb! It’s completely different-”
“No, it’s not! You just can’t accept what you don’t know-”
“Shut up! Just shut up! You’re an idiot, okay?! Leave me alone!”
“Kyle!”
“Don’t talk to me! I’m not gonna be friends with a freak! A crazy freak. You’re crazy!”
“Wait! Please, wait... don’t... don’t go. Please.”
“Retard.”
This was REALLY quick, and I was trying to write out what I had just said out loud. It came out far more unnatural. Sad Very forced. Sorry. It's one take on part of a scene from a story I've been working on. Sorry.
It's a good start, cptShort. A good start is better than not starting at all. Keep up the good work. ^__^
~~
Well, Valentine's Day is coming up. I wrote this. Kind of a bitter-turned-sweet romance flicky. Inspired by an RPG and the song The Ghost of You by My Chemical Romance.
Their old stuff is better.
Writing this, I nearly started crying. GAAHH.... I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO CRY WHEN I WRITE THIS STUFF! Laughing
~~
The moonlit cemetary was quiet and calm. The trees that were scattered beautifully between the gray tombstones waved gently in the frozen winds that blew past, and pure white snow glinted softly on the ground. Gentle laughing could be heard between the gravestones, and gradually, vague forms took shape, women in gowns that swished one way and another as they walked, young men that wore suits and ties.
There must have been hundreds of spirits walking through the snowy cemetary, laughing and dancing to soft piano music that wafted through the air from a mausoleum in the middle of the graves.
Only one ghostly form was alone. Only one spirit didn't have a partner in the afterlife.
I never said I'd lie in wait forever
If I did, we'd be together now
I can't always just forget her
But she could try
Valentine's Day. Well, technically it was Valentine's Night for the ectoplasmic people that laughed the nights away, since they couldn't do these things in daylight.
Oh, how she hated it. Dead for fifteen full years, and she had grown to hate this night and every other night that had to do with romance. Sometimes widows and widowers would come and visit their deceased loved one's graves to tell them what year it was, how long they would have been married had their significant other had been alive. And sometimes, the widow or widower would pass on as well and come to the graveyard, looking for their lovers or husbands and wives.
He still hadn't come to even see her grave once, not since the day she'd been buried. She wasn't sure if it was his job that kept him busy. He was a government-hired assassin, after all... so maybe they'd kept him busy enough that he wouldn't have the time to see her again.
She closed her emerald eyes, her lip trembling, and she hid her face in her gloved hands, sobbing quietly. Translucent tears fell from her cheeks to the frozen ground, where odd, crystalized flowers blossomed. Her soft red hair fell into her face, hiding her from the happy couples around her, and she stood up, hearing footsteps behind her.
"Go away, Avan. I'm not leaving until I can see him one last time." Her voice was choked, and she continued to tremble from trying to hold sobs back. She was tired of him coming to take her away to the afterworlds, and she knew it wasn't going to be any different.
"Tsuki, I didn't want to tell you this, but I don't think he's coming back." He rested a hand on her shoulder. Despite the fact he looked, smelled, and felt like a living person, he himself was a spirit of the holy kind. She pushed him away, feeling her not-there stomach start twisting.
"I don't care. I just want to see him one last time, just once... and I want to tell him I'm sorry for dying on our anniversary." Her voice broke, and she knelt down on the cold ground, sobbing again. It was hard to tell, but she had faint bruises on her arms and shoulders, because of a disease she had fallen ill with. Leukemia. It had worsened to the point where she wasn't even able to receive treatment for it, all because they hadn't known she had it. In a world where it was hard to afford treatment, even if you had a lot of money, chemotherapy cost far too much. So, she'd died, agonizingly but peacefully, at the age of 47. She wasn't sure if her husband was even still alive. If he was, he was in his early seventies, and if they were making him continue to kill... maybe he had finally failed, and been killed as a result. The very thought made her shudder, and she hid her face, crying again.
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever, ever, ever
Tsuki sat where she was quietly, still waiting. Avan had disappeared, probably off to take some other soul to the afterrealms, and she was glad he hadn't continued to pester her like he normally did. There was an odd shudder that passed through her, and she stood up, looking around. Behind her, at her grave, a man stood, though he knelt after a moment and set a rose gently on the gravestone.
"Tsuki... I don't know if you can hear me where you are, but I wanted you to know that this assignment I'm going on tonight is going to possibly be my last. I've gotten old, Tsuki... Last year I had to get an artificial heart because I was shot. The year before that, Darros and Zuru were killed in a wreck." His voice choked, and his fists clenched. "Leia... she disappeared again. It's hard to keep track of where she keeps running off to. Whether it's to her old workhouse or to a help center, I don't know. I'm a terrible father..." He inhaled shakily. "... They wouldn't let me see you. They know I'm going to probably die, Tsu-Tsu. That's the only reason they let me come here." His blond hair hid his face, but she saw a few small tears slip down his face to the ground.
Tsuki stood behind him, biting her lip as she listened to his words. So that's why he had never come... why he had never visited. The cemetary had gone completely quiet. Every ghostly couple had stopped dancing to watch him. He was quiet for a few minutes, before he continued speaking.
"I've been foolish. I thought that throwing myself into my jobs would make me forget the pain of losing you, but it only made it worse because I knew how much it hurt to lose someone that you loved. I started thinking about the people that could probably care about my targest... some of them, they were easy to kill, because they had no families, loved ones, lovers, nothing. Others... others I couldn't." He laughed bitterly. "Before I lost you, it never would have mattered." His hand, which was on the ground, clenched tightly, crunching the snow in it and numbing his skin badly. He looked up, and she saw the tearstreaks on his cheeks. "Tsuki... give me some sign that you're still here." His voice broke, and one of his hands covered his eyes as he quietly cried.
She knelt next to him and put a transparent arm around him, more than surprised when she didn't go through him. He jumped, staring at her, before he whispered, "Is that you?" She could only nod. He hesitantly brought a hand up to her cheek, shocked at the cold he felt, and he sighed shakily. "Still beautiful." She blushed a light red, but there was no change to the temperature of her unreal skin.
"You... You finally came." She smiled waterily, tears falling down her cheeks again. "I nearly forgot what you looked like." There was little difference, except that maybe he looked only somewhat older and had new scars on his skin that she could see. She hugged him with both arms, closing her eyes, and she sighed, nudging her head against his neck. His warm arms wrapped around her slim form, pulling her close, and she giggled quietly as his long blond hair tickled her face and neck. She heard and felt him chuckle softly, and he pulled back a little, stroking her right cheek, the one with the crescent moon scar.
"I'll see you again, no matter how things turn out." He rested his forehead against hers, kissing her cold lips softly. It felt strange after not seeing her for so long, and the fact that she was a ghost now made it even weirder, but he didn't care. He was able to see her one last time... She was wearing the gown they'd gotten married in. The white material blended almost seamlessly with her pale skin, and the gloves were slightly dirty. Despite all of it, she still looked beautiful to him.
Get the feeling that you’re never
All alone and I remember now
At the top of my lungs, in my arms she dies
She dies
They sat there for some time, Tsuki listening to him tell her everything he could remember about the past fifteen years, and she told him about the crazy things some of the ghosts had done. Eventually, someone was calling out to him, and he, though reluctantly, stood up. She stood up, one hand in his, and she leaned up and kissed him, one hand on his cheek and the other on his chest. She could feel his heart beating through the metal that had replaced his ribs on the right side of his chest, too; he hadn't been kidding about the artificial heart.
"I'll miss you," she whispered, her lips just centimeters from his. He brushed his lips against hers one last time, before whispering in her ear, "I'm never entirely gone, Tsuki." She had to smile a little, because that was what she had said to him as she had died. Slowly, he walked away, stopping at the gate to turn around and look at her. She was standing in front of her grave, hands at her sides and hair somewhat tousled, just like it always was each day they'd spent together. He smiled a little, waving once, before walking away, disappearing in the darkness. She heard a car drive away, and she closed her eyes, feeling a single tear slip from her right eye.
"... Goodbye, X."
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
If I fall
If I fall (down)
Tsuki eventually left the cemetary with Avan, feeling overjoyed that she had seen X one last time.. but at the same time, she felt empty, because she wasn't sure if he would be allowed in the realm she was going to. He'd killed people without a single regret... But recently, that had changed. Sighing, she lay down on the bed she'd been given, curling up under the soft covers, and she closed her eyes, falling into an uneasy sleep.
For little more than a hundred and thirty five years, she waited for him in the Sacred Realm. Each day seemed to last an eternity, and each eternity seemed a lifetime. Despite all signs that he was probably never going to come back, despite all negative comments and ideas... She continued to wait and wait. She wasn't going to give up on him just like that. Seeing him again had given her a new hope, and she wasn't going to just forget him.
One day, after a deadly war on Earth between demons, angels, Heaven and Hell, Tsuki was led to the forest by Avan himself, hidden within a fold of his cloak. She could see out of it, but no one could see inside.
Sitting under a tree, in a pool of congealing blood, sat a young man. His blond hair was streaked and matted with the crimson fluid, and his breathing was light despite his greivous injuries. His clothing was like mismatched pieces of armor, connected by red sinewy material, and he slowly stood up, a pool of blood that had collected in his arms - which had been crossed tightly over his waist - spattered on the lush green grass below him. There was a fifteen year old on the other side of the tree that looked a lot like Tsuki, but she had a bright neon red eye as well as a normal green colored eye.
... Tsuki?" The girl turned around and looked at him. "They told us about her, too. I-I don't remember all the details, but I know her grave was hidden after you died so that the government wouldn't find her."
A small, almost unnoticed tear dripped off his face. "They didn't get her..." Tsuki's breath caught in her throat when she saw who it was. X?
Avan stepped out of the shadows, making sure Tsuki was walking with him, and spoke. "You're right, X. They didn't. Tsuki escaped...Her grave was fake. She's been living here with us, waiting for your return, lover boy." The cloak was moved, and she felt a little awkward.
X seemed to growl at him "...I want nothing more to do with her... or anyone." Tsuki stayed quiet. She wasn't sure how to react anymore to anything. She looked at the ground, closing her eyes and trying not to cry.
Though his actions said different, X was relieved she was okay, that the government hadn't taken her body and used it like they had intended to use his, to make her a killing machine. But he didn’t want her to see him like this. Bloody, broken, pathetic. He hated it. After a few minutes of silence, Tsuki grabbed X's arm. "X, listen to me." She didn't sound very happy; she sounded pissed off and ready to hit someone. He looked at her, not having noticed her at first because his vision was blurred.
"Don't touch me... I'm a mess." He sighed, pulling his arm away. Every move he made hurt to high hell. Maybe that was because of how he'd died- Avan had been forced to kill him because he'd been brought back as a mindless killing machine.
"X, for once, just shut up. Everyone dies sooner or later. You're not pathetic because of that." Tsuki sighed, shaking her head.
He watched more blood drip to the ground. "I'm still dirty..." He closed his eyes, and though she wasn't entirely sure why, Tsuki started giggling. He opened an eye and looked at her, sighing. "Tsuki, I feel terrible and you're laughing."
"I forgot how ridiculous you are, is all." She smiled at him, but her smile faded when he didn't return the smile. She blushed a light red when he leaned down a little and kissed her cheek, whispering, "You're strange."
She had to smile a little, though.
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
A little while later, after taking X to one of the bathrooms so he could clean off and get a fresh change of clothes, Tsuki was sitting in an armchair, trying to do a card trick. The cards just fell out of her hands and onto her lap with a rustling plasticy shaking. She sighed, and put them on the side table as he walked in and sat on the sofa.
"How about you stop playing with cards and sit over here?" He patted the cushion next to him, a faint smirk on his face. She stood up and walked over, but didn't sit down.
"Why did I have to come over here?" She smiled, and gasped, giggling, as he pulled her down onto his lap.
"I wanted to kiss you." His lips met hers, and she closed her eyes, kissing him back happily. He leaned back against the couch a little, almost laying down, and lightly kissed her neck, loving how she still shivered. "And maybe I want to do a little more than just kiss..." He smirked a little. She giggled and lightly hit his shoulder.
"You haven't changed an inch, X. I sure as hell don't mind." She hugged him, kissing him again. "Hungry?"
"Kinda. But I don't want to move... It's not that important right now." He closed his eyes. "I'm too many things at once, hungry, tired..." X stretched out. "Comfortable, sexy..." Tsuki started giggling, and sat up a little.
"You're such a nut."
X opened his blue eye, his golden eye staying shut. "Your the one who married me." He yawned. "At least stay with me while I sleep. I've been alone for too long." She smiled, and rested her head on his chest, closing her eyes.
"I know." She nuzzled her head against his neck after moving up a little. "Kinda my fault... stupid cancer." She looked a little sad. He exhaled lightly, playing with her hair.
"It's alright. The past is done..." His eyes shut, and he fell asleep after a moment. She giggled, and fell asleep after a few minutes. In his sleep, his arms wrapped around her, and they looked peaceful.
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I, should I
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna
They weren't entirely sure what they would have to face the next day, whether or not X had to fight in a war when he no longer had any desire to kill anymore. He wanted to live a normal life for a change. Or afterlife. Tsuki didn't want to lose him a second time, and she didn't want to fight anymore either.
Time could only tell what would happen.
~~~~~

Well, there you have it, a bitter-turned-sweet story.

I'll have trouble matching with this one, I will. Simply beautiful story Nilly, the endless rush of descriptions matched with the perfect length made for one hell of an entertaining story. I don't have much room to complain about anything, but, perhaps, one or two spelling errors, but those can be accounted for. Great job Nilly; my envy for your talent in writing grows as the day goes by.

I'm not one for the chivalrous Valentine's affair, so I'll stick to my gritty roots; perhaps, at a later time a conceivable story will come to me.

---

"No of course not." Giggles.

"Why would I do a foolish thing like that?" Laughter.

"You've got the wrong man..." Screams.

"Leave me alone, damn it!" A rustic phone was hurled back at its receiver. The man holding the phone sat himself on a chair, but unfortunately, his problems continued. He couldn't stop laughing. On normal occasions, this would be a humorous affair but it was quickly turning into a slow and painful death. Because of his constant laughs, he couldn't breathe and of course if you can't breathe then your blood cells can't breathe and if your blood cells can't breathe then your body...

"$&#*!" He paced back and forth, a nervous hand traveling through the forest of his tousled hair. His hands repeatedly tore hair out... literally. As clumps fell to the floor in painful heaps, his screams growing steadily louder. Tears of frustration clung to the corners of his eyes in a desperate attempt to avoid their fall of death, but their liquid hands unclenched and they fell to the floor with softly-heard drips. He kneeled down unceremoniously.

Laughter continued.

"Ha... ha... ha..." The man couldn't take this madness anymore! He might as well end it all right now! If this didn't stop, he might as well... the man headed for an unsightly window, old with mold and restrained by a criss-cross pattern of light metal. He bashed against it repeatedly but to no avail. He succeeded only in bruising and cutting himself. He headed directly for his kitchen and rapidly shot through the drawers. Why the hell couldn't he remember where the knife drawer was?

He found it.

His hand greedily snatched a butcher's knife from the pile of gleaming kitchen utensils. He lay his hand across a counter-top, the knife hovering inches above it. It suddenly raised, gaining momentum, and plunged down toward a pulsing vein.

Clink.

CLINK!? He slammed the knife repeatedly on his wrist. WHAT!? CLINK!? THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU... he threw the knife aside recklessly and it dug itself into the stove. There had to be another way... there had to... he thought of another one. His cheeks grew in size as air accumulated. He held that position and flung himself on the floor. Small gasps escaped and his tears started streaming.

Five minutes later.

He could never had held this breath for this long. Despite the immense pain he felt, he would not die. His laughter continued. But... but if he couldn't die by suffocation, that would mean that laughter wouldn't kill him... right? No. rushed back to the kitchen, emerging with the knife in hand. He hacked away at the protected window with such force that with two or three blows, the metal frame was already coming away. He laughed maniacally during the process and as the frame was on its very last hinge, it rose steadily in volume. He hacked away at the final tie that kept it on the window and ran to the opposite end of the room.

ONE! His mind counted. On ten, he would go.

TWO! There are some things...

THREE! That you don't $&#* with...

FOUR! Mr. Evans...

FIVE! Perhaps, after this...

SIX! You will understand.

SEVEN! What it truly means...

EIGHT! To-

NINE! Feel-

TEN! Pain.

His show smacked against the tiled floor as his steps increased in pace. He was an inchworm's breadth from the window and while doing so a final moment of realization came to him. He knew why he had laughed and laughed and laughed... why there was no pain, why there was nothing to hold his sanity together, why he seemed in an alternate dimension. He knew now... how... he had no idea.

He screamed.

The window crashed.

He fell.

Nothing.

Well, here I go. Not sure if it will be any good but oh well. Smile

Brian fell to the ground in a heap, his chest heaving heavily up and down. He'd lost this fight, he hadn't even stood a chance to the massive figure of Matthew Donahew. The boy stood six feet tall and weighed just over two hundred pounds, and he was only fifteen. Brian was a stick compared to him, but he still tried to fight him. It was a fight for pride, for honor, for the pure fact that Matthew was a bully in need of an ass kicking. Brian was so stupid for thinking he would be the one to deliver that beating. He didn't know how to fight, what nerd did?

Propping himself up on his hands, Brian spit the blood that had collected in his mouth onto the pavement. He let out a pain filled moan and pulled himself into a sitting position on his knees. A hand was held out in front of his face. He looked up, giving a bloody smirk and took hold ouf the hand. He rose to his feet and brushed his sore hands on his jeans.

"That was freaking cool,B" laughed Brian's twin brother Jesse. A loud roar of a laugh escaped Brian's throat.

"I am never impersonating you again." he said while wrapping his left arm around Jesse's shoulders. "Next time, just let me do his homework." he added.

That was still pretty good, Lex. ^^ ... We need to get Megan posting in here again...
~~

Inspired by Linkin Park's My December. The original version. And also a little inspired by Bridge to Terabithia, the movie, which I saw last night.

~~

Tiny, crystalline snowflakes drifted softly to the ground, thickening the already deep, cold blanket of snow; black, frostbitten trees stood silently among the whiteness of winter, their strong yet fragile boughs weighed down by heavy drifts of snow. A soft, tinkling sound came from a string of trinkets hanging from a small tree. The gentle, almost silent windchime-like notes drifted faintly through the air as a squirrel curiously hit it, drawing back and chattering at it in fear. When it was certain it wouldn't attack, it hit it again, and this time it ran away as a large dog pounced where it had once been. A low growl escaped the shaggy furred canine as it curled up under a tree, frosty ice coating it again as snow layered on its fur melted slowly. A young woman soon took shape where the dog had been, and she looked with amber eyes up at the falling snow, a soft smile gracing her thin, white lips as the snowflakes tickled her skin and eyelashes.

--

Blah, it's only partly done.

I'm sorry if the person before wanted any kind of criticism, but I'm not in that kind of mood.

Let's see what I can do now...

________________________________________

"Someone!" she yelled up at the top of the hole. "Anyone! A little help for the poor lost little girl?"

The only response was a slight echo.

She sighed irritably and muttered to herself, "Oh, nice one, Nancy, getting yourself stuck in this stupid hole following a squirrel. A squirrel! You fell in a hole, probably to starve to death at the bottom of it, over a squirrel! Maybe some day in three years they'll realize that I died and they'll have a grave and the headstone will say something like, 'Nancy Myers, went missing over a rotten squirrel'!" Sighing did her frustration no justice anymore, so she screamed in frustration at the top of the hole. Her muscles tensed with energy that she couldn't release without violence, so she kicked the dirt wall.

Some dirt fell down from the top of the hole, creating an ant-sized hill and bringing down the closest not-in-a-hole ground about a millimeter.

Nancy grimaced. "Oh, wonderful, my only hope home is kicking a dirt wall." She huffed, annoyed, and kicked it again, harder. More sand piled. "Well, at least I can relieve my stress..."

Ten minutes later, Nancy was irrate again, now ready to scream...again. She tried kicking the wall with all her might, but all that did was make her foot hurt and, in combination to the scarce feet of dirt below, lightly burried her ankle.

She screamed with every ounce of air in her lungs, which were abnormally large. She was screaming for almost a full minute before she figured that she was probably turning blue and took a deep breath...and screamed again for about as long as the last time before she took a breath again.

In that time of near-silence, she heard her name echoing down the pit and stopped her breath. She exhaled slightly in relief, then called back up, "Can I help you?"

At the top of the hole, she saw a face that she didn't recognize. Of course, she really only saw a silhouette, due to the lack of light in the pit and the distance between them.

The face's head shook in a negative response. "No, not really, not yet, but I can help you."

Nancy grinned mischeviously at the challenge. "Oh, really?"

The head at the top nodded.

Nancy opened her mouth to say, "Prove it," but was interrupted by a strange sensation...

The pit was suddenly a lot less dark, the walls illuminated by...something really close to her but not casting a shadow on on any angle, as Nancy herself began...floating?

She was amazed at the oddity, but decided not to complain about her chance to get out of the hole alive, and in this case, in less than a minute.

She looked at her "savior"--and realized that it was her younger brother.

Nancy smiled at him. "Oh, hey Jason. When did you learn to do that?"

He looked distant, and sad. Nancy gave him a questioning look.

"Jason?"

He only looked at the ground with the same distant, sorrowful, regretting stare. "Sorry, Nancy," he murmured.

Nancy panicked. "Jason?!"

Jason looked up with a smile that couldn't quite betray his previous stare. "What? You just came out of a dirt hole that you got stuck in because of a squirrel and all you can do is worry about me? Just look at you, you're filthy!"

"Huh?" Nancy looked down to observe herself. She was perfetly clean. Why did Jason lie to her like that?

She looked up at him to scold him, but found herself speechless at the blank space of dirt where he once stood, without even the slightest impression of his feet to indicate that he had ever been there...
