Taking a page from DG-Sama's book...

Come one, come all! Here is your Officially Sanctioned Thread for naming and discussing your favorite videogames, the gems of your console libraries, the ones of your fondest memories and/or current experiences.

Please Note that all other, previous or future, "Favorite/Best Game" type threads will be closed with or without any warning.

You are free to bring up any game at any time, but please, follow this one rule: NO LISTS, PLEASE. When you choose a game, please say at least one sentence about what makes that game your favorite. You don't have to write a full essay on the subject, but neither simply mention your favorite game, your Top Five, Top Ten, or whatnot and then walk off -- do find something to say! Fail to discuss them, and we'll have to think up some foul consequences, like (for starters) being hosed down in liquefied Gyshal Greens so as to get pecked to death by hungry chocobos.

(Okay, I'm really just kidding about the chocobo part. Wink)

Those rules aside, have fun, and cut loose the discussion. Who would like to start? Choose one of your favorite games, then tell us why.

Well...

It was long ago, a cold night in the middle of winter..I wasnt big on games back then. I walked into the video shop.

I was dissapointed to see the monster rancher game was rented out, beacause I did so want to play a monster raising game-- something caught my eye. Something cute, yellow, and with rabbit ears, it was the cover art for Legend of Mana. I rented this on a whim, I didn't know what to expect-- I put in the disk and started a new game...

What I saw then, changed my gaming life forever.

The beauty of the opening cutscene...I saw wonderful plant like creatures jumping around in pure joy, the land itself was ripped from the ground, sealed in artifacts..

"Their hearts filled with empty emotions, they grew estranged from my hands..."

Really poetic shit. I think that overall, Legend of Mana (and the Mana series in general) is one of the games I can safely say is my favorite without hesitation.

Hmm. Great Games.

World Of Warcraft. WoW is fun for many reasons. You can choose what race you want to and personalize a character. You can interact with real people. The quests are fun, and you can get professions that can later on help you in the game. The graphics are extremly good. You also have a choice of diferent classes, ie. hunters can tame pets, druids can turn ijnto animals, etc.
Downsides: It's expensive.

But overall WoW is a fun and addicting game!
Very Happy

Legend of Zelda is [U]the [U] best game ever. Okay, that may be pushing it a bit considering there are a lot of great games out there but still. I love WW, in what other games can you possess a raddish dude that plays the violin or turn into a segull? OoT is pretty good too, except Navi and that owl thing can get really really annoying.

Other fun games are Harvest Moon and Super Smash Bros. Harvest Moon is cool becuase if you get stuck on a level in another game, you can play HM and not die. A truly wonderful experience( not dieng i mean). SSB is way fun, anyone who has yet to play it should really try it out. Best people on there: Luigi, Kirby, Sheik, Samus. Note, Luigi is only good if he has red overalls and a pink shirt. There are a bazillion more games that i like but i am tired of typing. Laughing

Is it an actual MMORPG this time? Or a RPG set in the world of a MMORPG like the last ones?

i'd say that my favorite video game is Dynasty Warriors 4. i simply love these kind of games. there is like more than 40 people to choose from, interesting stories & points of veiw, and it's just plain old fun... most of my family plays it...
and it's so cute how my little 4 year old sister plays that game with Lu Bu Laughing ... but the thing is my mom, she rather play Resident Evil 4... WTF? kind of scary if you see her play...

Groovey! I wish my mom would play RE4.

Yeah, I'd have to say SSBM. It's not many games that have kept me entertained as long as that one has. I play until my fingers are stiff and molded in the form of my Gamecube controller.

I'm an RPG person...and my absolute favorites are Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Tales of Symphonia, and Final Fantasy 6 (3 in America). Disgaea is probably one of the funniest games ever--I mean, you can throw exploding penguins, for screaming out loud! The battle system's really fun as well, and Etna...well, Etna is the Queen of Everything ^.^ Ya gotta love Etna (if you know what's good for you...) I can't wait for Disgaea 2 to come out.

Tales of Symphonia has the most likable characters I've ever seen, even moreso than Disgaea, and also one of the best battle systems for a "traditional" RPG to ever be programmed. The battles never grow old. And neither does watching Colette throw squeaky-toy hammers at bad guys. POW HAMMER!

And finally, Final Fantasy 6, the first RPG I ever played and the best of the Final Fantasies in my humble opinion, with the best characters, the best story, the best battle system, and the best scene in video game history in Celes' opera scene. I've never gotten over that opera scene--I bought the FF6 soundtrack just for the song Celes sings (Aria di Mezzo Carattere...aaaah...)

Yeah, I'm an RPG person, all right...

I want to play Disgaea so badly. DX I have Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom (lmao, which I still haven't finished) and I hear a lot of people like Disgaea more than those two, so I want to see how good it is. X3

lmao, even though NIS America don't translate perfectly, I rather like their "Americanized" translations. They're pretty funny. X3 And the dub voice actors are usually pretty good, as well, although Pram's voice actor makes me want to put pointy objects into who ever cast her's skull. o-o

Tales of Symphonia. I want to play that, too, especially since I've played Tales of Phantasia and I want to see how the storyline develops. :X Although since Dhaos isn't in ToS, I'm a little put off. DX

I don't think I've actually mentioned my favourite games yet~ But most people should know by now that it's the Summon Night series. Midorikawa Hikaru~ Amazing voice actor. SRPGs ftw. <3 High Summoner Nesty :3

Well, my favorite game is Dynasty Warriors 5 and Soul Calibur 3. I just love the way it is with DW5, with all the characters, missions, weapons, etc. It's really fun, especially when you get to kill alot of people. >D Especially with Lu Bu...Buwahaha, die you scum!!!!111 -Coughs- In SC3, I love the way it is. Except for the fact that Namco made some characters uber hard to fight. Damn you Namco.
