"enhance?"

I have a question, artist to an art viewer. I draw on manilla paper, which can make it difficult to see the drawing once it is scanned in, but I often draw on both sides of the paper, since I draw in a booklet, so inking would ruin the picture on the other side. (baaaad habit)

I have a handy tool on one of my photoediting programmes, called "enhance." I think that this makes the picture clearer and easier to see, but it has many drawbacks as well. Also, my monitor shows colours darker on my computer than other peoples, so it may be seen differently.

I'm just wondering, does enhancing it make it better? (or worse? or the same? or they both suck?) I have a couple of fanarts that I have both enhanced and leeft unenhanced... which looks better?

I reccomend this, though it only works in certain scanners. It also works with Photoshop, and a few other image editing programs.

Make darker pencil lines. It doesn't have to be BLACK, but just go over it a bit harder. Then adjust the levels (darkness, exposure, etc.), but don't do the enhance thing. Depending on the scanner/program, you can get to this with either the "image" tab or the "edit" tab.

Gah, sorry, I give bad instructions. I don't have a scanner with me at the moment, so I can't provide a screenshot to help. D: If you have Photoshop or Microsoft Image Editor, though, I can provide a shot once I get home.

Or you could attempt to figure it out, and just play with it. ^^;

But yeah, can the enhance option, unless you're using it for effects (like... I think it would go good with a Gaara picture, because it looks like a sandstorm).
