I know the thumbnails were never really important, but I just checked my pictures, and some of them are REALLY messed up as thumbnails. And the page was completely loaded. Heres a picture of what I'm talking about. Some of them are extremely blocky... so is it site-related, or is it my pc? |

thats why I make people submit their images as <= 600px insted of the site resizing them .
Anyway. The thumbnails are scaled with the GD library's scaling algerathms. They are obviously far from perfect. Line art usually gets scaled the worst, and certain color depths and stuff (there are MANY variations on jpeg). Maybe the PHP 5 release will come with a newer gd with better scaling whenever it comes outta beta. There is little I can do to improve it, some images just won't scale well _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |
