Has anyone else read the book?
I loved it, it was cute, funny, and suspenseful. Though it got kind of confusing in the second bookXD. |

They're good, but you can tell Patterson is definetley squeezing the "Maximum Ride" plot for all it's worth. I mean, "When the Wind Blows" and the "Lakehouse" were phenomenal books, and I loved the idea, but these are more eh.
That's the problem with James Patterson--his books generally lack substance. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

I love both books, yup the second book is out. So I decided to read Lake HouseXD. I just started. More colorful language though but good. Though sometimes I get confusedXD. |

I'm leaving this open for now since a decent convo has started up, but for future references Rinri, all series specific threads in A&M must include at least a paragraph with a brief spoiler free summary in it. |

James Patterson is my favorite all-time author. My favorite book is actually "The Lake House". However, I do not like the fact that he derived the "MAXIMUM RIDE" characters from the other two books (Lake House + When the Wind Blows) and even uses some of the same names, but claims there are no connections between them. Personally, I think it's kinda lame, for James Patterson standards I mean. But nonetheless, I still love the second Maximum Ride book. LOL I accidentally bought the second thinking it was the first one So now I am currtently reading the first one. Took me about a day to read the second one ^-^ |

I think that there is a connection. And they are related and James is full of hoo hoo. I think that the Lake House and such are more geared towards adults, and the other Maximum Ride ones are more kid-ish. I've read both series. _________________ Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to.
Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again...as well it should be. If you're not sure it's dead, put a bunch more holes in it, should fix the problem... |

Yeah, his books are rather... well, not to say immature, but rather strongly geared towards younger readers. Sorry, but that's not too interesting for me.
And it's interesting and funny I suppose, but I fine the plotline rather lacking. They just keep running and running into the erasers. The actions all seem kind of random, though at least people get more beat up than in most books, adding a tone of reality.
And the kids finding new abilities... all rather overused.
And the short chapters, like the G feeling of the book, made it feel childish.
The first book wasn't that good, but I do have to thank James Patterson for this: he actually got my brother hooked on it. My bro hasn't read a single book outside of class except for ripley's believe it or not and lego books.
So suddenly having my bro snap up 30+ chapters in a day was shocking.
So, well, at least the appeal works for the young. ::shrug::
My bro did buy the second book too, so I'll be reading it. Maybe it'll be better.
I dunno, but to be honest, the first book just really did seem kind of immature. A laptop reads Max's thoughts and shows them on screen. Lab critters. Lab people who are honestly so heartless they jump at the opportunity to dissect someone's brain. Morphing wolf-men and a 'training field'.
Then again, I'm rather critical of most books I read, so I could just be a bit extreme, heh. ^^;
And I might get around to getting the Lake House books, though I'm really not that interested in the series so much anymore.
We'll see. _________________ |

If the books made for the younger crowd had been made to be a BIT more mature, say in the 18+ catagory, they would have been awesome. I really did like the POV in them. _________________ Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to.
