i just got done doing my rough sketch and i usually just go over the lines hard with a pencil so i get a good smooth line but i was going to color the whole picture for the first time and i wanted to do the outlines with a pen. any suggestions on what kind or brand of pen i should use |

Hmmm....not sure, but if you want to outline in pen, then I would go with a gel ink one, maybe with a fine tip. That's what I use to outline hair. Gel pens seem to work for me and they are inexpensive. A permanent marker, like Sharpie, with a fine tip also works. |

The kind of pen you use depends on how big your picture is and what kind of line you want. If you want a real smooth line, a sharpie might not be best bcause it can bleed. Crow quil pens and technical pens are good but can be expensive. Maybe try Sukura pens. |

I used Sharpie and I've had no problems. They never bleed when I use them. |

Sharpies do indeed tend to bleed, even ultra-fine tipped ones.
Like sailorharmony2000, I suggest Micron pens. They've got insanely tiny tips, or also some mildly thicker ones, depending on what you want. They're a bit expensive, but they're the best choice. No bleeding, as long as the ones you buy don't have broken/damaged tips. They can also come in different colors, I believe, but they're all pretty thin.
The problems I seem to find with microns is that sometimes, they'll kind of fade, perticularly if you erase over one lightly-done layer with eraser.
It only seems to happen sometimes, and usually, just going over the lines once more does the trick.
Also, perhaps I'm just very noticing of tiny details, but if you're using a light-colored colored pencil and you go over a recent inking, it might smear just a tiny tad.
Otherwise though, gel pens are usually much thicker and leave bad lines, plus they can smear for days afterwards.
Micron are probably the best. _________________ |

Well, when you're 16, broke, and have no craft store in your town, you're forced to improvise.
Darn my town! |
