Where is the option to change my forum avvie image? Why can't I find it?

Your user avatar ('avvie') is now shared between the main site and forums. To upload an avvie, use the "Edit Profile" option from the main site, rather than from the forums.

1- When logged in, click on your username at the top right (where it says "Welcome, _____") to view your profile page.
2- Click the "Edit" link that appears on the page.
3- Upload a new avvie.

Please note that all avvies larger than 64x64 will automatically be thumbnailed down to that size. The thumbnailing process discards any transparency or animation data from the image, so if you wish to upload a GIF animation, it must be less than 64 pixels wide and high.

Repeat, if you want your avvie image to display animation or transparency, your image must be 64x64 or smaller. In other words, you must do the resizing yourself before uploading the image for use as an avatar.

Note that sometimes, even after changing your user avvie you may still see the old one instead of the new one. This is a browser caching issue and will fix itself in time; see the FAQ topic I thought I changed my avvie? for further information.

This is also the same with GIF transparacy, if by chance you have a transparent background you lose that as well. (becomes black)

64x64 pixels. Any uploaded avvie larger than that will be automatically thumbnailed.

Note that the thumbnailing process discards transparency and animation data.

I still need help. Every time I try to change it, it stays the same. When I click update to update my profile, nothing happens. It doesn't update, it just sits there.

It has to be under 64x64 pixals otherwise its resized as a jpg and loses transparacy and animation.

If you want an animated avvie, it must be saved as a GIF format and less than 64 pixels wide and high. If your animation is larger than that then you must resize it yourself before uploading.
