New: When you are logged in and viewing a picture, a pair of smilies will appear underneath the picture. This is a voting system that records what you think about the picture -- i.e., whether or not you like it, or think it was well-done.

This system is still in its early stages though; for comments and suggestions, you can use this thread in the Site Discussions area.

- When you view a category, you can sort pictures with higher ratings first.

- Sorry, only site staff can view the total score a picture receives. We don't want to see people complaining about receiving low marks.

Just thinking on this one. As you said, this system is still in it's early stages, but i'm just wondering wouldn't be easier to sort the puctures out by what the people what to see? What i mean is, and this may even call for a separate page to use these actions, that shouldn't you make catagories like: coloring, style, and media use. just to separate the pictures further and give them the judgement of all that people think about them. Of course this would require the search functions to have more catagories in which to search under, and will probably become a hastle in it's begining, but it would be worth it in the long run, right?

When viewing a gallery, you can already narrow it down by specifying a media in the view settings.

Hmm... well i guess if you turn off other things in your search ... yeah that would work. Okay then never mind my suggestion.

Update: We've added the voting options to the comment form so that you can choose a vote at the same time as filing a comment.

Note that you can still only toss in your vote once per picture; if you try to vote again on the same piece, the extra vote will be ignored.

Just wondering; can you give us the chance to CHANGE our vote?? What if we clicked the wrong button by mistake?? D:

I was a bit too hasty on a click, and I'm going to be bothered by this for the rest of the day. :(

No.

But in the long term, any single vote is a drop in the ocean.

Just going to toss in a little bit of interesting trivia:

- Users have cast votes on approximately 1 out of every 14 pics on FAC (new and old pics alike).

I had been wondering how the older pics would fair vote wise.

what's the point in voting if we can't see if people like it or not?
