Pictures on FAC

Is it just me or wasn't there a rule that you could not submit real pictures, (as in taken with a camera etc.) onto FAC and that you couldn't use them for backgrounds either, (like take a picture, then draw something on top of it) Yet I have been seeing both of these around the site recently. So is that allowed now or something?

Huh. I don't think submitting self-taken photos is allowed, as that would turn this place into a photobucket, but I have seen some work with photos [self-taken] that were then edited [greatly] and changed around on photoshop... I think that might be okay [occasionally, as long as it isn't spamming...]

And I thought it was okay to have self-taken pics as backgrounds to pics. :/

FAC isn't a photography site.

Pictures with a photographic background are sometimes allowed.

Fanart taken with a camera instead of a scanner is allowed -- if done well -- but discouraged because it typically looks like crap.

3d fanart (hand made plushies, sculpture, etc.) can be photographed (there isn't really any other way to submit it.)

Cosplay is also allowed, but discouraged -- Its better submitted to one of the dedicated cosplay sites.
