I've looked in all the FAQ places I could and I'm still lost as to how I can get an Avatar. Stratadrake told someone about non forum options, but I can't find it at all. And so I'm just lost and confused.

Forum avatars are now controlled by the main site, so that means, you have to go to Fanart Central [not the forums of fanart] and upload your avatar through your profile. [at the top, you'll see an option to 'edit profile']
As for 'getting' an avatar, as in the image... get your own. Some sites have webmasters that make avatars, yada yada, or if you just have an image you really like, upload it. Pics will automatically be minimalized, usually.
