Ok. I've been wanting to let this out for a long time. *deep inhale*

Star Wars- A series of six very popular movies that were created by George Lucas in 1977, starting with Episode 4, a new hope. The plot is centered around the Galactic Republic, a government set in an unknown Galaxy (perhaps the Milky Way, as it is a swerl Galaxy). The Republic governs the systems (clusters of planets and stars) by democracy. There is cool technology, as the Republic is very advanced. The plot is this; an evil group of guys called the "Sith" or "Dark Jedi" want to destroy the Republic and other good things. They caused wars, hence "Star Wars". The good guys are the Jedi; the good guys. They protect peace, joy, love and all that jazz. This series spawned a franchise of Star Wars toys, games, and of course, fan art and fan fiction.

Star Trek- As it's name implies, it's a series of T.V. shows, airing with many, many episodes (and some movies, actually), split into two sections. The classic Star Trek (1960's) features the voyages of the starship Enterprise. It is the future (2300's or 2400's, or maybe 2500's; I forgot. Sorry); Earth has prospered beyond imagination. Enterprise, commanded by Captain James T. Kirk (played by William Shatner), and his second officer, Mr. Spock (played by Leonard Nemoy), a Vulcan (it's an elf alien person), travels the galaxy. They explore the galaxy with their crew. It's their job to meet sentient beings in hopes of uniting them in peace and such. But such a journey is hard, as the Enterprise travels the galaxy, it must overcome obstacles. The second section of Star Trek is Star Trek: The Next Generation, which takes place some 30 or 40 years after the original. The Enterprise, perhaps a different one from the original Star Trek, is commandeered by Captain Jean Luc Picard (played by Patrick Stewart) and his second in command, Commander William Riker (played by Jonathan Frakes), travel and meet new sentients and hope to unite them wit the Galactic Federation, the government that is made up of planets that were registered into the Federation (which is democratic). Star Trek was made by Gene Rodenberry.

Sorry if I made too much; I wanted to be safe.

Now here's the topic of discussion: There has always been fighting between the Star Trek fans and the Star Wars fans. Always fighting.

I am a fan of both. WHY CAN'T THERE BE PEACE!? Why do the extreme fans of both series have to fight? There isn't much difference between them. The technology is highly advanced, there is enough action and (sadly) romance to go around.

To me, I would like to see the day Star Trekkies and the Star Warriors (made these up) could no longer hold the middle finger to eachother. I want to see the day when a Wookie (furry aliens from Star Wars; they are generally good) and a Klingon (warrior race from Star Trek; they are allied with the Galactic Federation) rip an evil robot in half....TOGETHER!! They both grab one end, put aside their differences, and pull the crap out of the evil thing.

And don't you go blowing that "But there is already peace between the Star Wars and Star Trek fans" BS at me. I've seen it with my own eyes. Sure I don't usually wear my glasses when that happens, but I've seen it! They HATE each other! There was once a large group of Star Wars fans at a gathering. Then a guy dressed as Spock from Star Trek came along and walked around them with his middle finger held up high to them.

And don't remind me about that fiasco at the woods near Belagarth (not sure if this is how you say it). My bro and I were there to speculate. I had to use the bathroom, so we both went behind a tree to take a whiz. Then we looked to a direction and witnessed it: Star Wars fans dressed up as Star Wars characters were battling Star Trek fans dressed as Star Trek characters! It was maddness (though at the time I wished I'd brought a camera)!

There is no peace. None that I can see.

What will I do? Perhaps rally those who want to see the peace and exert my influence. Maybe even enough to virtually control companies, such as Sega and Dairy Association (those who know me will know what I would do with Sega. You know. I've been saying it for a while. COUGH! SHE'S GREEN! COUGH!). Ya know; maybe even rule the world.

Well, I'm done. Now what do YOU think?

First off I do rate Doctor Who over both and is older and still going than Star Trek.

Star Trek has done a lot over it's time but it's getting dull and boring. To me it repeats, simular storylines, that's when I was watching.
With Star Wars, I do prefer the original movies and did get a little bored with newer ones.
To be honest when it comes to Star Wars and Star Trek, don't rate either above the other.

Move to a different counntry. Wherever you live must be full of nerds, I mean I like Star Wars but I ain't going to do a drive-by on Star Trek fans.

I agree with Kes that Doctor Who is great. But my opinion on the whole Star Wars/Star Trek issue would be a bit bias. I am a huge Star Wars fan. Though, even though I hate Star Trek, I wouldn't fight much about it. It's only the really crazy fans with no life who really fight about it. Very Happy Basically, there's nothing really you can do. People with different opinions will naturally argue, so it's best just to ignore them. 8)

It's like people who go off on Marvel VS DC rants. They may have compiled a huge list of reasons explaining why one is far superior to the other and honed their debate skills to a rasor edge to defend their company of choice, but at the end of the day they're all still nerds.

No matter how coherent they may be, all an outsider listening in on a Star Trek VS Star Wars debate hears is "Omg liek my sci-fi series is so much better than your sci-fi series and i hate you"

Believe it or not, but I am actually thinking about moving to another country, but I guess that's off-topic.

I'm just saying, the major fans and their silly little rants might get out of hand and that someone could get hurt, quite honestly. Gangs may be formed by this and well, we all know what gangs like to do.

Um.... I'm going to assume that was a joke, because 1) Star Wars/Star Trek fans weren't resorting to gang violence thiry years ago when the two were at the height of their popularity, and 2) I cannot picture the average obsessive sci-fi fan in a knife fight.

I can. There'd be a thiry minute opening where they try and muster the strength to lift the knife.
