Ack, Why Can't I Send A Pm?

I know the forums are slightly modded, but this is probably the first bug that results from it (or seems to). In some areas of the forum, other members are referred to only by their real name (if they have one entered), and not by their screen name. I can sorta understand the logic behind this, but not when it causes problems with various forum functions, namely PM's.

My problem: I can't send a PM. Well, actually yes I can, but I can't [b]reply[/b] to PM's. Attached is a screenshot showing the problem.

1 - A typical view of my PM folder. The first PM was a test message to myself. The second PM was sent by a different member. Notice that in no cases are the senders identified by their username -- this is especially troublesome for me, because I haven't provided something for the "Real Name" field and, thus, the test PM appears to be from no one in particular.
2 - The "Nice mouse" PM. Again, the only thing shown is their real name. I started to reply to this one.
3 - What I see after hitting "Reply" on the particular PM. Where the frell is their Username? WHY is that field BLANK, of all things?
4 - Message I receive after attempting to put their "Real Name" in that field. Obviously, I'm supposed to enter their [i]username[/i], [b]but I have no way to identify what this member's username [i]is[/i].[/b] Even if I click on their profile button, I am still only shown their real name. How come I am not told of what their [b]username[/b] is? I cannot respond to their PM without it, hell, I can't even preview or save the PM for future sending without it! I can do nothing except throw my PM response in the bit bucket and come running over here for information
