Why are you visiting FAC less often?

FAC's traffic has been going down this month, and we want to know why.

Um...People are finding different places like DeviantART and the new Tokyopop website allows you to post Blog Entries, Artwork, Manga, Music, and Anime all in the same place. And they have a forum. They're like everything in one. I've seen a bunch of people from FAC over there, so maybe that's where the peeps are headed. ^_^ But don't worry, *shakes fist* I'm still here! XD (As if anybody knows who I am...or cares)

Might be 'cuz some peple just really didn't like the new layout. What with the speed problems and somewhat... I know that FAC is slower now on an older computer now than it used to be, so that could add up to it.

Or 'cuz for lots, school has started now. :shrug:

My school has started, but that doesn't lower my visits here. What i am missing here tought are interesting topics and some answers on some questions (don't even ask). Then i've been working also to get the requests done (still like 3 or 4 left, lost counting on my counter on sig). Visiting here daily tought for rp.

Another reason may be the picture limit. Not that the limit itself is bad, but, people aren't likely to come to a site where they can only post 3 pictures a day, when on other art sites, they're free to post 100000000000000+ I personally like the picture limit here, because if you look around the Tokyopop art section, there's no limit to the # of submissions, so you have about 50,000+ art thieves adding 1000000000000000+ pictures a day and its so crazy that they have users flagging pictures 24/7. XD

Well Cause of the NC 17 ratings all schools in my area have started to Ban FAC as pornography

hmmmm i dont mind the limit but i think it is too low!!! i dunno if it was five, i cant explain it but anyway the change of site was sudden so the people who had just got used to the old site will be a bit lost!!! i havent been on long myself but it was weird gettin used to the change.

one thing i dont like about the change is the whos Online bit i liked that at the bottom for some reason because it take ages now to load it on a seprate place.

i have a DA account as well and they dont have a limit on the amount of pictures you can submit, but i like FAC better XD

i wolud like to contribute more on FAC but i just dont know how i could do that

There is a project in the works that I think will make those who don't like the new layout happy.

I'm constantly working on trying to fix the speed problems. Old FAC had all kinds of problems like this too. They seem to be mostly fixed now, but the main webserver of FAC has been having some speed problems the last week or so due to the high volumes of email notifications it is sending. It's a constant battle.

I didn't know anyone's school started this early, but that would partly explain the traffic drop

[b]Picture Limit[/b]
Picture limit is for quality control and will stay. But, the same project that will make the layout complainers happy will make the picture limit people happy too.

[b]Who's online[/b]
This was moved because it was becoming a problem there as the number of members grew. It being on its own page is not directly related to its speed problems (which as of about 3 days ago should be fixed)

This is why you should set up the option so users will only receive alerts from the artists they WANT it to be from.
Because quite a few people fav quite a few artists... and if you're not interested on commenting on all of the pictures, just those by a few artists, this could really lessen the strain from all the notifications.
Plus give me less to delete in my mail.

I think the limit of pictures are agreeable. In sites like DA that allows endless amounts of pictures to be submitted often comes up with many poor quality art.

I see that the most put off people have is the layout, because they think it's trying to copy DA [which is an odd reason, if you ask me].

As for me, I am still an active member of the community [not much of the forums, but I'm trying to change that now xD]. And I don't plan on leaving.

Well, isn't that on the fault of the users, then? If they want less notifications from artists they're not interested in, they should take them out of the favorites list. Simple as that, right? D:

i went on my DA account the other day and it has changed and looks like FAC but green it was really weird!!!

no i agree now havin no limit would mess up the system and have poor work flyin in!!!!!

It's been a bit difficult to read the comments under the pictures. The colors of the words and background are too alike. Maybe it's because of my browser. But if I want to read comments I always have to highlight the words to see them better.

W00t I hope this project involves an option to change the forum layout back to the invision look?

Anyway I haven't been on as much as I used to because my main account was banned by mistake. Also alot of my friends left. Not really fac's fault.

Ya, the website does take a bit longer to load, and that is annoying and all, but that's already been addressed.

What I think is one of the key reasons FAC's traffic has gone down is because the previous layout had a list at the bottom of every member that was online the moment that a page loaded up. I believe this encouraged people to become more aquanted w/ other FAC members, and as they would get to know each other more, they would become closer friends and thus visit the site more. This newer layout does give the option of clicking a link to see who was online, but not having this emeidiatly coupled w/ the little problem we have w/ the load time simply makes it too much effort for most people to waist their time on (cuz lets admit it, most people are lazy).
Perhaps a good solution to this would be to give members the option of whether they want to have all members that are currently online displayed at the bottom or not.

The advertisements that are all over the site might contribute to the traffic being low. I know thats what pays for the site but they are really annoying espeicially the random word links and the in browser Pop ups that block the view.

and My school has also Blocked this site for many reasons and I am glade that you are fixing that with getting rid of adult matterial but the damage has already been done. once blocked stayes blocked apparently.
