...I don't think I can do this. Not only am I behind on word count, but half the problem is that the plot's starting to take a turn from the original outline I planned. WTF, there's an entirely new character I never planned on including in here already! @_@

Luckily the genre I'm writing is fantasy, so there's never a shortage of things I can make the story do, but... :s I can't do it. Too many things to say, too many things I forget to say... I'm only a little more than 2500 words in, and I've only gotten past the prologue. The main character hasn't even left his house yet, and for some reason it still feels like I'm rushing the story. <<;
Nooo Fayore~! Don't give up!!

Man, not a single one of my stories ever really curves the way I want them to. (That sounded weird...) They all go off on tangents, but I still manage to work around it and find a plotline somewhere along the line!!

Just let yourself type, and then bother to edit and add in quotes. ANY kind of story is good, and I'm sure you can do it!! Don't give up!!! :o

...Plus, I'd love to read anything you write ;)

Stef, that's an awesome idea. SOMETIME, after NaNoWriMo is all over with, I'll read your story. When I'm done cramming for mine.
I'm now trying to multitask meeting my daily limit for that fic, AND trying my best to scrounge up more chapters for another story I have to have some kinda 1-yr anniversary for on Nov. 25. XD This IS madness.

But I find that the deadline is really nice. With an actual set deadline, I'm GETTING things done. O..O
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing. :o

Did you guys get the weekly pep talk email? It made me smile so much.

...Which is good, considering i haven't written anything yet today. =_=

But I'm feeling happy because I took a break from cramming in words, bought some socks, and I've got some ideas playing around in my head fromt he random things people have told me. I asked my sister's friends what I should do for my story, and they've surprisingly helped my word count quite a bit now. Unfortunately my plot, which was long time on a verge of suicide, finally balled up and took that cyanide pill. But it's ok with me, because my characters have developed enought o know what they want to do and fight me until i write them doing it.

Ah~ happiness

Oh yeeaaaah~ I thought it was absolutely ironic how that came around right after I whined about wanting to give up. Razz

Still, though... I have to write 5000 words today just to catch up to my 8000, which is where I would be had I written 2000 per day like I told myself I would. Egad. Homework's getting ignored an awful lot too, which probably isn't a good thing seeing as I need good grades this year just for getting into university. x__x

It's actually surprisingly easy to get 1000 words in (I can do it in less than half an hour), but that involves being inspired and, well... I'm not, really. :l So writing usually involves me agonizing over what I want the story to say right at that moment.

Dunno if that makes any sense, though... XD;

My writing sucks, but I guess I can go log that prologue into the site~ :9

...I can't tell you how much respect I have for you guys to pursue such a tough project. I myself lack the cujones to even write a one-hundred page story, and the fact that you are all trying to write 100,000 words is just...incredible.

Keep it up.

Also: Might I inquire as to what the plots are to each of your stories, or is that a secret?

YAY Fayore for going for it~

Of course, I DON'T think that should top University priorities, but, uh... it's still somethin' good. :o (I think...)

I got the pep talk too, heh. I guess I COULDA been off worse...

I've been trying as of late to get kinda ahead, that way I could work on my other fic.
...It never quite happened.
I blame the forums I'm on. >>; (Not FAC) Gotta get off. Urgh.

And Fayore, I know what you're talking about. It's the same here, really. I agonize over HOW to write this one detail all the time, and that's where MY writer's blocks come from. Not plotholes/lack of plot, but simply inability to DESCRIBE something properly or something stupid like that.

...And as for this story... I have the feeling it's going to be boring and crap-filled. :/ I can't help but be influenced by the stuff we're reading in our Am Lit class, and now I suddenly find myself with little hinting things in my piece. o_o
Plus a helluva lot of boring descriptions. No one will read this story now. >>;

Thanks for the cheering-on, Writer. :3 You can know... I don't think there's much to mine...
Well, my MC can see people when they're about to die. Eventually, he decides to act up and try to save this one boy from getting killed. Insert happenings and conversation.
...I think, in the end though, I'm still going to kill off the going-to-die boy.
Just for fun, y'know
Well, I have a bad habit of killing off my characters. :/

I'm trying to come up with details now for the filler stuff that happens inbetween. :<

Oh noez. Last night, my characters broke out of the previously described paper bag. Except that I'm actually really happy because it excelled me like... 7000 words. And introduced a new character and plot. Possibly violence. Yaaay violence~ Unfortunately my MC turned into a total wuss along the way, and keeps bursting into tears at random moments. BUT THAT'S OK. I just passed 25k so I am happy happy~~

HALFWAY!!! GO STEF GO! WHOO~~!!

So I shall be celebrating for the rest of the night by playing music really loudly, taking off my pants and dancing about. And possibly drawing my characters.

It's actually somewhat terrifying that I could probably draw all of my characters tonight, I only have 5. Along with a couple of disposible characters including a goth girl who paints black tears on her face and a transvestite prostitute in lolita.

So, umm, plot. Well there really is not a planned plot, beyond putting a bunch of characters in a cage and only one metaphorical hamburger. But I will decribe what has happened thus far in the story.
I have two MCs, Werewolf and Necromancer. SC are Awkward, Butch and Vampire.
Werewolf is probably in love with Necromancer, but they're both stupid and haven't figured this out yet. Everyone else in the story has and often makes fun of Werewolf for it.
Necromancer is obsessed with bringing his girlfriend back from the dead, even though he's really bad at necromancy and mostly ends up killing himself whenever he tries to use necromancy.
Werewolf and Necromancer get all their money from Vampire, because they dont have jobs. Vampire doesn't give them very much, though, so they are like... squatters. In an abandoned apartment building.
Lots of filler emoness about Necromancer trying to necromance things and Werewolf getting sick and being in love with Necromancer.
Vampire trys to rapey Werewolf :0 zomg penizface
Werewolf kicks Vampire's ass.
Vampire sics all these other vampires on Werewolf and Necromancer because... well he's a penizface.
Awkward and Butch decide they are going to come and save the day by living in Necromancer and Werewolf's house.

That's basically what has happened so far in my story... aka a whole lot of nothing and a rapey scene. But I am fairly happy with it. I don't really know where it's going at this point, since i kind of wrote myself into a hole, but I think my MCs are going to move in with Awkward and Butch because I am tired of writing about them being squatters. Also that way I can write about Wendy and Wanda more often and I just realized they are secretly very awesome.

Shocked Well, you fabulous writers, I've finally succumbed to peer pressure. I signed up. I have nary three weeks to write 50,000 words.

Suggestions?

Advice?

...Am I supposed to start a complete story from scratch, or can I dredge in an old story?

Wait...that's cheating...

You have to start from scratch, no previous writing is allowed. Outlines and ness are allowed though.

Advice?

Don't sleep.

Ever.

O.o. Okay. From scratch it is.

Oh, gawd...

...I'm looking at it this way: in AP US history I have to write a five paragraph essay in one night with three outlines--thanks to the fact that we don't get the essay until the day of. An essay is about 1,000 words, and I've gotten the essence of writing it down to an hour in a half.

So...an hour and a half for 1,000 words, and those have to make sense. Fiction writing? Makes no sense...Goood....So, it'll take me about three hours to write three thousand words that don't make sense. I type eighty-five words a minute (last time I checked)...If I keep THAT on a role, I'll have 6, 960 words.

That's a lot. I won't have that amount.

...But it's around 3,000, so we're all gud...

Oh, my gawd. The stress of this is incredible.

...I have no idea what I'm going to write. D:

Yeah, the stress is really bad. I'll probably have to stop because I have to do fiction writing for my Creative Writing class anyway. Not only that, but I'm taking another course this year that's not difficult, but involves a lot of time and dedication.

...Ah, Animation.

I'll try working on my NaNo piece, but if I can't get anything worthwhile done with it over the weekend, it's probably over. :l

Aww~! It is stressful, but I find it to be particularly fun. I've got more than enough story ideas stockaded onto a little notepad file of mine, and that's what I spend all my free time doing; going over those plotlines, adding things, changing things around, etc.

GO Writer! Your username insinuates that YOU CAN DO IT! :D

And Fayore, couldn't you... maybe... use a hunk of the NaNoWriMo for the Creative Writing?? D: Or somehow bring it in, or write a CW piece that could fit into the NaNoWriMo?? :/

And sorry about killing off characters, Stef, but it's a bad habit of mine. Rly. D:

And has anyone else now experienced the characters running amok on their own? I SWEAR I did not do it, but now the two main chars. hate each other's guts.
But one's got a gun and the other don't. ;) (Both are a bit... off-kilter, to be honest.)

Stef, your story is quite interesting.
*Note to self: read Stef's story after November Madness ends. XD

I thought they were supposed to be lovers? D:

My characters do that too, though not to such an instense degree. But I kind of tossed my plot into the wind a while ago and just let them do whatever the jesus they want. It's more interesting for me this way, considering I'm not entirely sure what they've got going on in their devious little minds.

Also I have been told that next year I actually have to write a story about putting a bunch of characters in a cage with only one hamburger because I use that metaphor too much. :0
I've finally succumbed to peer pressure
On a completely unrelated note, I love peer pressure. It amuses me greatly. I pressured one of my friends
whoisn'treallymyfriendhe'smysister'sfriendbuthesnicetomeanyway
to write a novel Razz But it serves him right because he pressured me into smashing one of those election signs What a terrible sort of person.

Eheheh, exactly. Actually, I'm not quite sure how far the relationship will ever go. Maybe never past good friends or something. I didn't sign up to write pron, yaoi or no.

I'll figure something out, eventually...

Now it's time for you and me to peer-pressure Fayore into finishing her story. 8D

.........urrr...

Maybe. I'm still contemplating it for this fic. =3=

But we did get somewhere! (...we?)
I have now reached 20k words, and the first kiss. :)

It consisted of OMFG WTF BBQ/CRACK from the MC.
Along with an elaborated description of how exactly kissing a smoker compares to licking an ashtray.

D:

(If anyone has some personal experiences on the aforementioned, I'd love to hear it~)

lmfao

I laughed so hard at that... you don't even know. I was laughing so hard at that that my brother came over and read it over my shoulder. And he, who has both eaten a package of cigarettes, and accidentally drank form a pop can that was at the time being used as a ash tray, says a very descriptive, "It tastes like Satan." :/

I feel lame though. I'm at 29k and my characters haven't kissed yet. In fact, my MC moved in with a different boy and, if this continues the way it is, they are going to end up farking like bunnies all over the new carpet. Sad I don't like my MC anymore. Too promiscuous.

So how would I go about breaking it to the supposed to be main love interest that the MC is only going out with the new boy just to make him jealous?

On a completely unrelated note, I just bonked my head on the ceiling and am resorting to balancing a cold beer on my head for relief. I'm short, I'm not sure how this happened D:

Huh. Strange world indeed.

It is interesting that you're hating your MC--maybe at this point, you turn the tables and make her/him secondary?

...Day II of Peer Pressure and I have--as of 5:19 MT--1,657 words done, which is very bad. By tonight, I need ot have 5,226 words done. And only two pages in, I'm absolutely hating my story. It's like every other piece of trite to grace the land, and there's no originality. D8 Ugh.

EDIT: Does anyone else here find that the more they write the story, the more ideas for different (better) stories come up, and they feel mildly annoyed?

God yes. I wish my inspiration via Kim Phuc to write a story about the Vietnam War had hit me sooner, I feel it would have made a much more interesting story.
It is interesting that you're hating your MC--maybe at this point, you turn the tables and make her/him secondary?
I can't imagine what I would do if I made one of my other characters into a main character though. They're kind of like lumps on a log, they don't really do anything, except for when my MC pokes them they jiggle ferociously in reply.
...Day II of Peer Pressure and I have--as of 5:19 MT--1,657 words done, which is very bad. By tonight, I need ot have 5,226 words done.
Well, this is what I do when I need to start writing, which works, considering I am normally just having problems with my fingers not wanting to type the words. I play a song from my playlist, and I type the entire time the song is playing. Not even stopping to correct typos and whatnot. It usually gets me started on writing, and most of the time all I needed was to get the ball rolling anyway. And since I have a bunch of songs by the same artist on my playlist, I am determined to type through them all, for the rest of November.
And only two pages in, I'm absolutely hating my story. It's like every other piece of trite to grace the land, and there's no originality. D8 Ugh.
Err, we're supposed to be original? :D;; Well, I assure you that it's better than mine.

If anyone whines about your story being bad, smack them in the face with a tuna and shout "It's NaNoWriMo! It doesn't have to be good, as long as I win!"

Ah, how I love this thread. <3

Writer, you're welcome, and keep it up! It's not that hard to get the story going, once you've got a plot planned out. My brain, unfortunately, still runs faster than my fingers, and I've got to cram in all I'm thinking.
I find that, if no ideas come, write up to where you are, think to where you've got it planned out... when going to bed and waiting to fall asleep; when on the bus/in the car; when walking down the street; all of those times are excellent times to plan out more for your story. ;)

I'm also considering having the random kiddos in my story abruptly run off to another city.
Can anyone give me some good cities? And some way to get between them.

I am quite the sheltered child and have no experience whatsoever with either of the aforementioned.
I live in DE. D:

Oh, and Writer, I completely know what you mean about the better ideas. Those have hit me through all over the place.

I think that, even if your story DID lack some originality and whatnot, you could still pull it off. You write awful eloquent. D:

Stef:
...Your brother ATE a package of cigarettes???? :o!

And a thing I've been wondering... in your story, are your characters actually named 'Vampire' and 'Werewolf' and all??? D: I was so confused.
Or are those just what species they are? Or... something else completely???

I-I-I thought it was fantasy, so... :<

I reached the 20k mark, btw~! YAY!

...Unfortunately, the older other story with the anniversary this month is dying. MISERABLY. D:

He's not exactly a normal sort of person. O_o
And a thing I've been wondering... in your story, are your characters actually named 'Vampire' and 'Werewolf' and all??? D: I was so confused.

XD That's just the species, becasue consider I only have... one normal human in the story, it would quickly get really confusing if I started using names.

Werewolf = Sharne
Necromancer = Axel (which is very annoying, since he keeps turning into Axel from KH2 and messing me up, because they have completely different peronalities)
Vampire = Amore
Awkward = Wendy
Butch = Wanda

X0 Sorry about being a comfusing pile of poop.

I can't believe you're still trying to write both. I would have died... like a week ago. Good work on the 20k~!!!!
