So, just to make it fair, a new start for a new topic.
It came out just today, so the topic can't have much so far for me to say (in part because I refuse to spoiler it for myself), but I'm hoping it'll build as we go on.
So far though, I for one have been real hyped-up over this game. Awesome graphics, really sweet-looking battle system, cool characters, and a hopefully equally great plotline!!
WAI. So, I've been counting down. Then up, as on Tuesday Oct. 10, I still had to go to school, and then get my mum to drive me (though, legally, I can drive on mah own, but I got no car :[ ) to Gamestop.
It murdered me.
Abyss was released today, but it's not being shipped there until tomorrow.
I had to leave empty-handed.
::stands on top of hill:: WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
So, we're going back tomorrow so I can get my fill of Luke's bellybutton.
And it better damn well be there. D< |

Yeah, I know. I went to EB today and they were like LOL COME BACK TOMORROW.
...

(Personally, I think threads would last longer if we used the Symphonia thread like an umbrella thread for the whole series. :O) |

Sorry, Fayore, and I know what you mean... But I'm kinda OCD on threads and emails >>; and I'm hoping that this might help edit our conversations.
...And we've kinda just gone over just about all ToS topics. :/
However, we could just make a seperate thread for 'tales' games in general, ne? :3
Anyway.
NOW, I get a message on the phone saying that the game's gonna be shipped to gamestop and unpackaged and all that whatnot by THURSDAY.
OHMYGOD.
/WRIST.
Goodbye, cruel world!! ;o;
Jk, jk. I can wait 'til tomorrow, but it's a big pain in the ass because I have a half-day tomorrow, but I STILL have to wait 'til 6:00 past at night before I can get it. :/ Tough.
Dammit, I knew I shoulda just ordered it online. >>; Rawr.
And just going to gamestop made me start scripting up a list of games on my to-get list. >>;;
So. Guess you have to wait one more day.
And then it sucks, because I promised my friend I wouldn't start without her. Hopefully though, we got no school on friday so she can come over [hopefully real early] and we can wast-I mean, spend a good whole day on Abyss.
Yeah, I've heard some pretty good reviews on Abyss, which is half the reason I'm so freakin' hyped up.
I don't even know half the characters' names, but oh well. 8D |

Zohmygod, I finally got around to playing the first 4 hours of the game.
SWEET.
The graphics really are so pretty! And the plotline is good, once you've untangled it. I like the battling system so far, though I wasn't at first used to having to hold down L2 for the free-run.
And I'm still rather sad that there's no unison gauge, but that's only a minor setback, I guess...
I'm at the part where we're trying to cross the river in Malkuth back into... that other country.
And btw?
Luke is a snobby, whiny little aristocrat brat, but I still love him. Something about his attitude... it's so funny.
(Maybe because he thinks the way we all do... sometimes. ^^; )
But now I feel sorry for the ligers. I liked that queen; she was so pretty.
Sooo is anyone not too busy with the game to come by and add in some zohymgod awesomeness?? 8D |

Change the setting from semi-auto to manual? o3o
I haven't played more than the first hour or so. Everytime I think about playing it, I pop Tales of Rebirth into the PS2 instead. 8D;;
I hate how the skits have no voice overs. Even worse, the bg music stops playing during them so all you get is silence. I hate that so much. =_=;;;
Luke is awsm. Can't wait to see Asch, though. 8D; |

Dammit! Now I'm jealous...TT_TT I can't get my copy for a while since I've bought way too many games this month. Also...I'm grounded *complains*
Oh well, I'm just live off of fanart for now XD Luke is adorable with his short hair, but personally I like his long hair better. I'm just weird like that. Of course, when I said that on DA...well...let's just says I found out he had a lot of fangirls >_<
Anyways, I saw the trailer for it a while ago and nearly exploded. The graphics are pretty good and I love the battle system (I loved ToS as well) But the anime trailer was great. I watched it, like, 10 times in a row. And some of the buildings are amazing. I saw this screenshot of a castle and nearly fainted. It was sooo pretty *_*
Jeez, I want a copy *cries* |

Actually, I am on manual. And I think I still need to press the L2.
...I think. >>;

Oooh~! How is Rebirth, btw?? Really nice??
Well, I'm only 4 1/2 hrs in, so it's forgiven. ^^; Play it though~!! SUCH pretty graphics. =3=

True, I know they cut them all out... it really is quite silent and crappy. :[ Makes me sad, but it's still a really good game overall.
I like those circly-halo-formin' things on the map that give you free items. 8D
And how fast you can run on the roads~
Oh, and I do want to see Asch SO BAD. HE IS SO PRETTY.
But no games on weekdays, so it's to be another tortuous set of hours waiting. ;o;
Btw I'm also rather busy playing Guilty Gear X2. 8D |

Oooh I wanna get this game, but then there are 5 other games I wanna get too. Plus I still have to play my 360. I am feeling overwhelmed by all the games I need to play. |

Oh snap.
My friend beat Abyss over the weekend. She says, 'by accident', as she'd been wanting to get around to all the sidequests.
I can't believe Abyss is only around 40 hours of gameplay. It kinda puts a hole in my Abyss-love. I hope those 40 hours are damn chock-full of awsome. D:
But I guess it's only to be expected. That explains why there was only one disk.
Games with good graphics will always equal short games. D:
Anyone else care to mope with me?
Btw, I am personally around 11 hours in. ^^;
Asch is awesome, and we saw our first cutscene. It was quite pretty.
Don't leave me, Bratty Luke~!!!!!!!!! ;o; _________________ |

Short? Almost all RPGs average about 40h in a playthrough, especially if it's just the main story you're going after and not the sidequests. :s The only games I can think of that don't follow this 'rule' are the FF games and Dragon Quest 8 (80 hours, shit man).
I still haven't been playing any Abyss. Been playing Atelier Iris 2 (which is a rawkin' awesome game) and just today I bought .hack//G.U. o3o;
Abyss just doesn't capture my interest the way the older ones like Phantasia or Rebirth did. :s |

I started playing abyss and the story seems kind of confusing. Good game so far though. I've been playing too much Bully though lately. Bully is an amazing game. |

Bully's a great game. Though I've been more distracted by God Hand. GOD POWER KEEPS MY PIMP HAND STRONG!
Am I the only one that finds this game rediculously easy? :0 It's fun and all, but not very challenging. (Also, I thought we were gonna use the Symphonia thread for all tales games..:l) _________________ |

I dunno. You wanna cut off this [dying] thread and necromance the ToS thread?? I don't really care too strongly either way. :/ (But someone should go do the necro-ing)
Well, the only games I've played so far are ToS, Star Ocean 3, and Magna Carta. SO3 has a good 60+ hours of gameplay, not to mention 10-hour long sessions of a CERTAIN dungeon to kill your mind on. :/
And Symphonia had a minimum 60 hours, didn't it? So, Abyss is quite short in comparison.
It is pretty good though. Depending on how much you train, the battles can be easy or hard. :<
But to be honest, I rather like the... lack of difficult dungeons. ^^; And the battles are interesting, if you're gonna bother to unlock the bonuses and all. Hell, the first time we fought sword dancer, he wiped us out. D:
But it does seem rather easy.
Dunno. I'm hoping something along the way will REALLY, really make Abyss seem like it's an awesome game. But it's still more than just decent. ;)
I liked bratty Luke. He's better than the other, now deemed Emo-Luke. D: |
