|

Okay, I've been posting art on FAC for some time now with no problems. But now when I try to submit fanart, I get this message:
Image conversion failed. Try re-submitting in another format
I'm not sure what "another format" means. My routine for scanning and uploading hasn't changed in the slightest, and I'm extremely confused.
What should I do? |

It means there is something wrong with the file you submitted that caused the site to not be able to process it. |

All right, thanks. Might it have something to do with the fact that I use .BMP format? |

In theory, BMP files should work. But maybe the new server can't handle them. Try submitting in another format, I'll investigate BMP later. |

How is that a surprise? BMP files are a total waste of user bandwidth (literally 1 MB for a 640x480 true-color image, ugh). _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Try using PNG. If your work was done actually ON MS Paint, which is pretty much the only time (I think) that pictures will even be BMP file, switch to PNG, which is somewhat smaller but doesn't do anything to your colors or anything.
If it's a scanned-in piece or anything, however, you should probably just convert to JPEG and save yourself a lot of space. However, doing this to actual pixel artwork (again, MS Paint works) is not advised.
Does this help any? :) _________________ |

I think so...though the last time I used JPEG to scan (I only scan my pieces; I don't actually draw on MS Paint) it turned out really crappy. I'll try again, though, thanks ^^ |

I've been trying to submit BITMAP pictures (that's what I have always been submitting as), and I got the same message.
So, I had to go back and resave the files as JPEG, which pixelates the pictures, to my disgust. |

Never, ever JPEG pixel art. XD;
Like I said above, I think PNG should work fine, no color changes or anything whatsoever~ Good luck! _________________ |

There is nothing directly wrong with bitmap conversion on the new server, but I don't think it handles submissions of huge file size as well.
I'll look into it. |
