Pic Views are back to 0...

Why did this happen? My pic was viewed more than 300 and now it's back to 0...

What happened?

FAC servers were down the other day for maintenance. It could have affected your submission (and others).

I had to turn off the counters and online page last week because they were slowing down the site too much (they cause lots of database writes).

I did some maintenance last night and turned online back on, but I wasn't able to do all I wanted (I was too tired and it would have caused the site to be offline longer than I wanted) so views counters will be another few days while I monitor the resource usage of the online feature being back.

I am curious, the view counts, will they be restored to the previous counts or will they be starting over?

I imagine the views occuring during the down time are lost but I am wondering about the preexsisting views.

I wonder if there's some way to divide-and-conquer the view counters so that they can be updated without requiring as many resources. Say, dump them into a smaller database section or something and integrate it into the main during slump hours when more resources are available.

They already are their own database table.

Views from the last few days were not counted, all other views will be restored.
