....When people here on Fanart Central put about a million pictures on their profile?

I mean, 1-4 pictures is fine, but when there are over 45 pictures on their profiles, it really p*sses me off.

It ticks me off because, since I have AOL (no alternative), it take FOREVER for a person's profile to load.

Does this tick you off, too? Mad

im wondering why the crap do people put up so many pics on ther profile. Its just so god damn pointless and annoying.

I only tend to look at the profiles of interesting people, and the people that I would define as interesting tend to not be assholes that mistake FAC for Myspace.

FAC profile pages are not journals. However, since we don't have a bonafide "Journal" feature like dA (SA, et al.) does, that's precisely what people use them for.

Denis, can't we have some limit on how much people bulk up their profiles? Like . . . a length limit of 3kb or something? Or a ban on the IMG tag?

If they can't say it in one picture, sometimes they shouldn't say it at all.

Or an [i]actual[/i] journal feature, sometime? (You could derive a Journal-like feature from the existing story/chapter system, i.e. list story chapters -> list journal entries; add chapter -> new entry; view/edit individual chapter -> view/edit individual journal entry)

Uh, duh, that's what I said. Get rid of the huge profiles and make them move that stuff to a journal and link to it.

One or two blurbs isn't a problem, after all, but the endless cavalcade of images, pointless listy things, etc. ... goes on and on....

Yes, some other sites have it. Many others don't. FAC is not built around such a social networking core as those who have it are, it doesn't bring anything here.

Except a bunch of preteen whining that will make pages look even shittier.

Let them take it off site and be done with it.

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention this? Yep.

People who feel that they should have 100 or more 800 x 600-sized wallpapers of InuYasha in the gallery....oh my gawd.... Rolling Eyes

They apparently understood the use of PhotoBucket or ImageShack, but why bother posting 65 images of Sesshomaru in your gallery, when you can just link them to your albums? Evidently, people aren't as smart as they seem. Smile

Ugh, I can't agree more with this topic. I click on profiles to learn stuff about the person, not stare at 285734950 googled anime pictures. I have a pretty fast internet connection, but I still don't want to have to scroll through a cesspool of pointless images.

Go back and reread the very first thing I said. It had already been proposed to limit profiles, then you brought up adding a designated journal feature. To which I said let them get a livejournal and link it [like is already available]. Meaning...in case you're a bit slow this week...let the kids with a million pictures and/or lengthy novels about non-bio garbage [who would be affected by the limit] move it to a journal site and link vs limiting profiles AND creating a journal feature we don't need.

Or better yet, remove the [IMG] tag. The only pic on the profile should be Profile Picture. Its just an idea.

I wish we could, but they seem to be everywhere.

I wouldn't mind disabling the [IMG] tag on profiles entirely, because that's most of the problem.

A length limit, on the other hand... I'm thinking in the range of 3kb or so.
