I'd like to post some of my own original comic strips in the future, but I was just wondering if the 'doujinshi' category was strictly for manga-based comics? I've taken a look at some of the comic strips there and they mainly seem to be manga based. Is that a rule or otherwise?

"Doujinshi" means "fan comics". They don't have to be anime. It could be any TV show or cartoon - meaning comics drawn of a TV show.

(Sorry - I wish I could offer you a better explanation. ^^; )

That is correct. Doujinshi ("dojin" for short) is just the phrase that they are usually identified as.

Ok then (sorry, I forgot to watch this topic for replies Razz)
So, if I were to continue with my 'Freddy's Pranks' series (based on Freddy Krueger of Nightmare on Elm Street fame), could I post them in the doujinshi category instead of the Nightmare on Elm Street category?

the category should have a /alternate name. "Fan Comics" or "Independent Comics" (for originals) would be nice.

That's a fair idea. How come most of the category names are Japanese based anyway?

Apparently an admin thinks everyone who visits this site is japanese.

Don't you have category access too, unfocused? Or am I the only person who ever bothers with category related work? Wink

I use the term "Fan Comics" strictly within categories for existing series. The "Original Comics" section is named precisely that, albeit with the "Doujinshi" tag added.

Renaming them is an easy job, just don't forget that they are located under both 'Comics' and 'Anime/Manga > Original'.

I don't see why it needs to be renamed,
maybe just douhinshi/fan comcs
and under that a redirect to origional comics that says "origional comics"
That is if you're bothering to change it in the first place.

(ahem) Going back to my second question, could I post my 'Freddy's Pranks' series in the doujinshi section instead of in the Nightmare on Elm Street section?

In general, if it's based on an existing series, it should be submitted to the category for that series.
