Some IM client's emoticon's make sound.
I was getting a weird evil laugh sound for a while at one point, I traced it to somebody who had an emoticon on their IM name, every time he came online it played the sound. |

It could be an ad on a website. There was this ad that advertises Smiley Central, and everytime it loaded, all of the smileys would make noises on mouse-over.  |
