Yes, set your scanner to 75dpi -- this is close enough to the resolution of a standard computer monitor to make a scanned drawing appear roughly life-size when viewed.
When scanning artwork, you simply must pay attention to the scanner's resolution setting, this is what determines the size of the resulting image. If you scanned a piece large, open it up again (in Photoshop, GIMP, etc.) and resize it to something smaller. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I prefer scanning things very large and shrinking them on the computer. It's easier than fiddling with the scanner settings every time I want to scan something.
As for size, it depends on how much detail your art has. I usually shrink things down to a width/height of no more than 800 pixels. For things with more detail, I shrink it enough so that it can fit on my screen in at least one direction, haha. _________________ Go Yankees! |

I usually make it as tall as 850-800 pixels.
But really try to work with what fits on the screen without having to scroll.
Unless you have a heck of a lot of detail. |
