So far, most characters from Double Dash have been announced to return. Too bad their's not that many famous 1st party characters left to choose.
1st Party-
Monty Mole
Baby Peach
Baby Wario
Blooper
Any of the Koopalings
E. Gadd

Also what features do you want improved in the MK series?
What I think...
They're needs to be a lot more tracks especially battle mode stages.
Many more items than before.
Battle stages should be a lil' more larger and more creative.

Daisy is not a 3rd party character she's 1st party.

How it'll work is you have the Wiimote sideways and move around to steer. That's the only info that's been announced for controlling.
Also there's a button on the back of a steering wheel the game will come with. I have a feeling that's for shooting items.

So far mario kart has been characters that are directly affiliated with mario.

so i doubt they'd use link and fox
