Whether it is or isn't, referencing someone else's fanart is in really poor taste. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Its in direct reference to the other one, but its not a trace.
It would take an amount of transforming to get it to fit right on, as you can see.

Kid just liked what he/she saw and copied it. |

it isn't really bad to use a fanart as a refrence as long as they don't full out copy it _________________ |

In what way is that not a "full out copy?" _________________ Go Yankees! |

It's what is referred to as a legitimate redraw, Lame but clean

you have to make it fit though, resize and re-lining it on a different area would affect it couldn't it?
I ono, I think that if you were to move it to fit, it looks like it woujld match. _________________

That pic there is the two pictures at the same exact size placed on top of one another.
Here is the one formed to fit the other one, but even still its off a bit.
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/roxas121/FAC%20art%20ref/pullover.jpg
I'd say the only way it could be a trace is if the person printed it out.
I just think its a little too off to be a trace.
To get it to fit exactly you'd have to completely obscure the picture in question,
but it does come close. |

Use a vector graphics editor for tracing tests, able to freely scale & transform via point and click.
My tracing test took less than five minutes in Inkscape:
[/list:u]
As for redrawing, if a submission is a precise redrawing (i.e. all details match up near exactly), that also falls under the category of a "trace", especially if it's digital media.
Note how the two feet are basically the only part of the image that does not match up, everything else, faces, hair and suit lines, are almost a perfect copy.
It's too exact to be mere coincidence. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

So, what's going to happen?
Thanks everyone :], I'd try to do that myself but I don't have the program or know how to use it. _________________

I honestly don't think this one is a problem.

The person, whom you said was copied from, most likely copied THEIR picture from this one:

So they didn't steal the other girl's art. _________________ "I don't let people lable me. I have a style all my own, and a catigory all my own." ~Me

Hm, It looks like it was a circle of copies.
But now someone just has to over lap them.
Thanks princess ~

Its all up to strata or battou, it kinda looks like the one who drew malak and the other tan girl used it as reference and then the one with malak and the other goth girl traced over the drawing.
We need strata/battou. _________________

You're welcome.
But isn't it okay to use other pictures as a reference? o_0? _________________ "I don't let people lable me. I have a style all my own, and a catigory all my own." ~Me

Yes, which is what I was talking about with the first picture, of tea and malak.
But the one with malak and the goth girl, looks like they traced from the girl who made the tea/malak picture. _________________

Oh.
The person you're accusing is a friend of mine.
She could have only used it as a reference. But that's also because I don't know what a traced picture looks like. It could be the same thing as using a reference depending on the person's talent. One of my other friends was getting called an art thief because her drawings looked exactly the same as the originals, only she replaced the person or a person with her OC.
Anyways, I'll probably end up spamming this area, so I guess I'll take my leave.
lol
I did my part by posting up the real original picture so they didn't get accused of stealing the one of Tea and Marik. ^^;
But that's also because I don't know what a traced picture looks like.
A traced picture looks like an exact copy of the original piece's composition, i.e. the same placement of characters, poses, outlines or other details, such that if you fade animation between the two, the only differences you'll see are in the colors or shading used.
[/list:u]
Confirmed: it's a trace. It is flat out impossible* to look at an image and then duplicate its composition in such exacting detail without applying some form of measuring, copying, or tracing.
I'd try to do that myself but I don't have the program or know how to use it.
Get Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/). Open source vector graphics editor, free like GIMP (and much easier to learn).
* - Okay, yes it is theoretically not impossible for two separate artists to compose the same exact piece, (e.g. compare scientific multiverse theory), but the oddds are so statistically insignificant that they can be ignored. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
