"FAC has detected that you appear to be using an ad blocker. FAC makes the money it needs to run its servers from advertisements. Without people viewing ads, FAC would have to shut down. By using the site without viewing ads you are a drain on FAC's limited resources..."

This just started popping up on my computer today, but I don't even have an "ad" blocker. I do have a pop-up blocker, but it is off.
It is true that I do not see an ad banner, but I don't know why! I surely do not want to be draining the site; as a member of about five years, I love FAC, but it would be nice to be able to use the site!
I have repeatedly tried refreshing, but to no avail. My internet security level is only on medium, which it has always been on, so I don't understand why I'm getting this message now. A couple of times, the site randomly HAS worked, but even then, I see no ads.
Sorry to bother you, but I'm not the best at technology and maybe you will have a suggestion to fix this problem that I'm just not seeing.
Thank you,

-Kerushi

If you're using Mozilla Firefox, The extension "Ad-block plus" will cause this.

To find this got to tools and it should be there, you can also just use
ctrl+shift+A to get to it.

Once there find all the ads blocked for FAC and take them off the list.
I had a similar problem, I was blocking some ads from other sites, FAC just so happened to be using the same ads. Its relatively easy to fix.

Hope that helps.

I'm on my second computer, which does not have Firefox. I'm using Internet Explorer...
But thank you anyway! If I continue to have this problem when I get to use my first computer again, I will follow your advice!

AVG Virus scanner reportedly does some ad blocking.

So do Norton and I think Mcafee.

Nope, Nothing I have on my Norton does any ad blocking. If a bad cookie comes from one of them it stops it, but it doesn't block the ad from sight.

It has Phishing and Spyware blockers, but nothing about adblockers.

Wow, you guys are the best. I got it to work now...I thought we only had Norton AniVirus, but I guess we had some components of AntiSpam too.
Thanks so much!

No this one is not a trial version, It's entirely possable Norton pulled it from the version for one reason or another.

I have done all this and still I am blocked.....

Opera 9.24 - open all pop-ups
Kaspersky IS 7.0.0 - tried both - on pop-up blocker allowed fanart-central.net as a trusted site AND when that didn't work disabled pop-up blocker and anti-banner..... still I get the message from Fanart Central saying I am blocking pop-ups.

I have all Vista's (my OS Vista Ultimate) security garbage disabled as well

Any ideas? I would love to look at the site.

Thank You
