I just hit 37,000 and a half today, after a spurt of 2500 words. I also got to meet up with two other Nano writers IRL earlier today (they arranged a meet near the local theater). We didn't get much writing done, but it was fun to talk, and I brought my DS along to surf the Wi-Fi.

Can't really get any writing done that way though.

In order to hit 50000 by next week I still need to average 2100 a day -- down from 2200~2400 in the past few days, ergo I'm catching up. Only 2,500 words behind 'schedule', so to speak. I wrote out a long combat-type action sequence today (sort of a "Shadow of the Colossus" style battle, really), action sequences virtually write themselves.

It's gonna be a day or two before the next, and I need to put the climax in somewhere around the 50,000 mark. I have some really cool plans for the main character, but I do need to follow through on 'em.

Trinity, what's your Nanoname?

Ah, right, sorry about that. Mine is "Shenandoah."
Oh man, I'm still technically 'on schedule,' but I'm no longer ahead as I had been before. Damn distractions.

I love action scenes, too. Interesting, since I used to suck at them so badly I just skipped them in my writing. I'm still hating my story (or, more so than usual, something to that extent.)
These last few days are a really hard push. (Yay, college. Oh joy.)
My one friend has already fallen behind. Actually, Strata, you don't need to finish your story in NaNo; just write the 50k. I didn't finish my story last year, and I have barely touched it since. (Haha, bad sign)
Oh well. Anyway, my story's dragging down again. I actually skipped three or so really important (or somewhat) scenes since I hated them and was stuck, and ripped up 3k in a day getting to introduce some new characters. I'm afraid... I might have to do that again, and soon.
Unfortunately, I know not where to go. Oh boy.

Anyway, wow, glad to see you're doing so well.
And I know how you feel about actually having a write-in. I remember at my writer's workshop, it really wasn't easy to get things done, lounging around in a dorm room with seven other writers. Nope, just doesn't happen.
But it's still a good chance to socialize.

(My writing (and mind) is a little disoriented right now... I'm switching out of essay-writing mode... *shudder*)

I was typing almost all day today.

It paid off: 5,000 words!

I wrote essentially two chapters. The first involved a lot of plot narration, and then some dialogue for foreshadowing. And the latter was a lot of action.

And the main character's mother gets killed in it. Oops, I guess that's a spoiler -- I'm not actually writing out the specific scene where she dies, but I do include the ones before and after it. Basically, there's a battle, protagonist is evacuated to safety by a few side characters, and he sees his mother taking a serious injury while battling the foes. When all is clear and the dust is settled, his mom's dead.

Wow, that sounds... fun. 8D;
Okay, that's a mean way to put it. But, hell, melodrama makes for a happy and well-fed word count.
I managed to write up a flurry of 3k today doing another of my insanely detailed narratives. Ooh boy, cheesy angst for the win.

*sigh*
Well, I'm pretty glad I'm in the final 5k stretch. I'm 95% sure I can make it at this point, barring an unexpected 5-day blackout. Oops, better not jinx it.

I wrote 4,000 words today!

I should cross the 50k mark by tomorrow (and with two days to spare, too!)

Story's not quite over yet. The climax has happened, but there's one final antagonist to wrap up... Main character got into a fight with them, severely wounded and nearly died after getting washed into a river (again).

Fortunately, his hydrophobia (and a hundred other worries) will be gone for good now.

Ha, that sounds like fun. Oh, yes, a near-death experience is the best cure for a phobia.

Anyway, you're free to keep on writing up 'til November 30, you know. I know some wacko guy from DE who's got 120k+ (Damn him doesn't quite cover it...)

But anyway, as long as you hit Nano, you're fine. Don't scrunch it up or anything like that.
Ugh, as for me, I'm on the final 4k, but really needing some way to hit the last major word-count-throbbing vein before I'm gone and done with this story. If I can just get off the internet long enough... *grumblegrumble*

I want to have the plotline tied up by the 30th, per interpretation of "novel in a month".

A revised and repaced version could clock in at maybe 70k.

And as far as Nanoaddicts go, there's one member who -- better sit down dor this -- is challenging 500k!

Check it out, she hit Nano in two days.

[EDIT] PS: I hit 50,000 tonight! And I still have two chapters to go. Smile

Myself, I'm at the last 3k... Oh goodness. If I can only GET into the story...
Oops, time to go. Almost bedtime for me. :]

Kateness crossed the 500k mark yesterday. And there's at least one more user at and above the 400k mark themselves.

They're completely crazy.

Anyway, aside from those that overachieve... I finally hit 50k! And just in time, too, as my plotline has been hacked down to a trickle. I think I'll sum up this one character, then let the story rest. (I didn't like it anyway, but I did want to get their stories out.)

Whew, this was a tougher year than the last. But still enjoyable.
How's your novel coming along, post-NaNo, Strata?

"post"-Nano? I still have to write the final chapter.

[edit] - DONE! 55k and a half.

Lacks a proper epilogue, but meh. I can always restructure it for a new version.
