Ok, before anybody starts talking, I'm STILL an anime fan but this is just something I have to ask!

Okay people, if you have been paying attention to the anime shows lately, you'll see that that number of episodes in some anime shows areshorter I'm just asking but, what gives with that?! I mean w- what ever happened to the anime shows back then, huh? ok, let me give you an example: There's this new anime show comming out, (or already is out.) It's called Devil May Cry.( the anime is based on the game Devil May Cry).
Anyways, when I found out about it I decide to look it up, but when I found out about it, guess how long the anime was? You won't belive this but that anime was only 12 episodes long!! Can you belive that!!? I mean why didn't they ust make it into an anime movie ,huh? It would make alot more sense! Just makeing an anime show that long, it's just, It's just Ridiculous! Mad
Well what do you all think? Do you aggree with me? Do you think that the number of episodes in some anime shows are just getting Ridiculous?

Read, and then reply please.[/code]

lolz DMC. Just play the games. The official DMC story isn't that long, so I guess they can't do too much with it for the anime. Idunno, I haven't seen the anime.

A lot of the really short anime are based on manga that go really slowly and haven't finished yet, such as.. Hellsing.

London demands a full length anime for Shin Angyo Onshi, but it won't happen.

Blame the short attention span of target audiences.

and frankly long animes usually mean half of the episodes are padded with unecessary episodes, or use a monster-of-the-week formula, or drag on a single scene.

I don't really like it when an anime lasts any longer than two/three seasons.

Buuuuut number of episodes doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of an anime. I mean, look at Naruto/DBZ/InuYasha/Yu-Gi-Oh/Bleach/etc. If you can tell a story fully and effectively in twelve episodes, why the hell not?

like 95% of anime are like 13 or 26 eps long. And most of the rest are only like 52 eps. Only like 1% are > 2 seasons.

I don't mind anime that have few episodes, like twelve. I mean, a favourite of mine, Gunbuster only has six! Two episodes on a single video cassette- of which I still have, but I don't watch videos no more (prefer DVDs now). Death Note only has 37 and that is just about enough for me, for I found it a chore watching all 50+ episodes of Tokyo Mew Mew (there are less than 55 eps). I tried watching Bleach, but the sheer scale of it put me off, I guess. Small is good, methinks.

PS: Jedi wishes for an Eerie Queerie! anime.

Mad Rolling Eyes Well, they could at least make a spin-off or something. To me, whenever I watch an anime show that has a short number of episodes, it makes me fell like the whole story in the anime has been just cut off.

...That costs money. If you want to know the story, play the game.

DMC makes my wrist hurt. :c I'm never finishing that, though I gotta wonder if the PS3 DMC is worth getting.

And yeah, 13 episodes (one season?) is pretty standard. Anime isn't 'becoming' short; it's always been that way. Although I've seen a couple that sorta upset this balance (eg, Tokyo Majin was 14 for its first season, and Moyashimon is 11 in its entirety...).

also, dmc anime is like a year old

The whole.. Dante not being main character thing weirded me out. I still.. lack a PS3, but I know I'll be grabbing a copy of DMC4 once I finally buy the damn console. (Agni and Rudra <3)

I've been considering buying it just 'cause I have like... two games for my PS3. And only one of them is PS3-exclusive, lol.

yeah, I know DMC4 isn't either, but. there are like no good games, baww. :c I've been using my PS3 to play... PS2 games, hurr. :B

And... I'm not particularly familiar with anything DMC-related other than whatever I saw in its crappy anime, so, uh... who are Agni and Rudra? :0

Eerie Queerie was boring, stereotypical, poorly-drawn, porrly-planned shounenai fluff. SHY LITTLE BLOND BOY MEETS TALL MYSTERIOUS BROWN HAIRED BOY AND AWKWARDLY FALLS IN LOVE WITH A TWIST

Most shounen ai stuff is poorly written, I've noticed.

Probably because people know it'll sell just because of its gay nature. :\

"I don't want to do any manga at the moment. I just can't get over this writer's block, sorry."
"We'll pay you $$ to write a series about some homo couple."
"...lol shure, 'kay"

I think the only generic shounenai that I actually liked was Love Mode, because it was just SO ridiculously bad. Complete with turning gay after experiencing the cock on accident.[/i]

I might have to check it out, then. 8D I love ridiculously shitty stuff. Is there anymore to the plot than that? :0

But yeah, I don't read any shounen ai anymore. If I need a BL fix, I just play BL games. You don't need a brilliant story because they were designed with porn in mind anyway. 8D

I don't even remember it was so crappy. But it started out something along the lines of the main character just happens to have the same name as a gay hooker the seme ordered and he gets whisked away by the seme and is somewhat raped and he spends the entire first volume angsting until he comes to the conclusion that he's gay because he liked the cock.

I think I've read about 5 purely shounenai series in my entire life. By pure, I mean stuff that doesn't have an overlying plot, like Yami no Matsuei and Tactics and arguably Saiyuki. If I want to read about gays, I want them to look like real men, otherwise I'll just read yuri because it's usually better drawn anyway.

What constitutes as "look[ing] like real men", anyway? :0
