Deletion comments are recorded for site staff reference (and yes, please take a moment to leave one).
Would a dropdown list of stock reasons be easier? That's how dA does it -- dA's reasons include: "cleaning up old submissions", "updating with newer version", "no longer desired", "leaving this site".
