All right, so I decided to try something new for a change (although I'm not sure if I should call it "new") and use textures---such as those from CGTextures.com---in lieu of colouring for one of my pictures. Now, I did the lines, and I did the shading; all I used from CG Textures was some metal and glass textures to give it a grungy, realistic look, although this always easily be done with Artweaver, which I intend to use to re-colour it if this is not allowed.
Now, I was wondering: could I upload this picture, as long as I gave due credit to CGTextures for providing the textures I used to "colour" the picture in? Or would it be considered more of a photo manipulation, and be against the rules here on Fanart-Central?
Once again, I apologize if this is redundant. However, I did remember reading that photo manipulations are not allowed, and that they go to a sister site, Photo Lucidity (I'm sure that's the name, right?). The textures were only used for the colouring of the piece; any backgrounds I make will be done with whatever art software I use, no photos necessary.
Help? _________________ It is the artist, not the fandom, that makes the picture worth it.
If you feel that the fandom is worthless, then fighting the urge to pass judgement on a picture based on that fandom is a rather good idea.
That is, of course, unless you want the fangirls/fanboys coming after you with foaming mouths.

You are allowed to use textures made from photos in your picture.
You are also allowed to use photos as backgrounds, provided that you take the photos yourself and it is obvious that the focus of the picture is the foreground, not the photographed background. _________________ Go Yankees! |
