I'm sorry if this doesn't belong here, but if I don't say it no one else will... And if they have, sorry for disregarding your post.

The censorship on this site is getting ridiculous. I can handle the fact that not everyone wants to see pictures of two characters getting 'at it', and like-wise I'm sure there aren't too many people who would like to read about it in detail, either, but swearing? Why?

There are little things that I've noticed called ratings. If you upload a picture or a new story, you simply say whether there is profanity (Swearing, as far as I'm aware), sexual content, nudity, violence, racism or spoilers in it. If there is you click on the drop-down button and select whether it is mild, moderate or high.

I rated my story 'mild violence' and 'moderate profanity' which, to me, sounds perfectly fair. Every now and again the characters might say 'ass' or 'fuck' or something to that extent (Although, interestingly enough, the word 'tits' wasn't censored). Now, every time one of the characters curses, it's weakly censored out. Why is this? Can't FAC handle a little bit of bad language anymore?

I love FAC, I really do. It's a great little site with a great community and great artists/authors. But really. The censoring is getting a little extreme now. The ratings were put there for a reason, I'm sure. To warn people what they're about to look at may be insulting in someway. And I'm sure everyone on this site can take responsibility for clicking on something and blaming themselves if they DO take offense, seeing as they did get warned.

Please, guys. Sort this out! It's absolutely ridiculous!

Now to answer what (minus the rant) appears to be the main focus of this topic, mainsite autocensors...

Child_of_the_feral, yes we do have an advisory rating for language/profanity however in my personal opinion we do still have people who don't assign it when they should, and fewer still people who care enough about the community to report such incidents to site staff attention. This is probably in part because we don't have an integrated reporting tool, but nonetheless.

Fortunately for you, mainsite autocensors are an [b]option[/b] which can be enabled/disabled on a per user basis. That is to say, if the autocensors offend you such, you can simply disable it and view comments/etc. in their original (uncensored) format.

Be advised that certain URLs may also be censored, and that half of the autocensoring system is [i]always[/i] enabled, and in all cases this has no effect on forumside autocensoring (which is a separate system).

The censoring was developed mainly for comments and profiles because of problems with trolling. They probebly shouldn't be applied to picture descriptions or stories.
