Username...Bear with me on this...

Ok, so I've been on here for a few years. Granted I've not been active on here those years, but I still come back every once in a while. I just logged on because I decided I want to start getting on here more and realized I've been spelling my username on here wrong the whole time. My computer automatically logs me on here, so I never noticed. So can a mod help me out please? Just a little? The username is supposed to be spelled djdragonfire with an A not an O. Rolling Eyes

You can pm me for details and such... so yeah, thanks.

If you want to change your username the only thing you can do is request for that account to be deleted and create another one. Sorry if that's not much help.

User names are involved in too many inner functions of the site making them too time consuming to just hand out even if it is just one letter. You'll have to start over from scratch by deleting your current account and reregistering with the corrected username if you really want the name change that badly.

Not true, actually. Each user is assigned a numeric ID upon registration and [i]that[/i] is what gets used almost every function (including faves, comments, and blocking) uses internally. The only 'real' places that a person's username gets used is on the display end.

The prohibition on changing usernames after registration is more a matter of convention, i.e. we can't have people changing their username every two weeks. That would get confusing, yes?

Yes it would get confusing, that I am well aware of being a member of a forum that does allow it. However I am just relaying what I was told on that one.

If the site is only a forum it seems odd that the name would be too hard to change. Isn't it very easy to change usernames on phpbb and invision? I've never played around with other forum.. types, but I imagine that it's more or less the same situation..

Come to think of it, the files on the image servers are organized by username, so that [i]would[/i] be a minor issue. But beyond that....

Thumb cache uses username too.

and with multiple picture servers and multiple thumb servers it's non-trivial to make a username change happen.
